- • The Director, Strategic Payer Relations is a leadership role responsible for managing and advancing strategic relationships with assigned payer organizations, serving as the primary relationship owner for designated payers and accountable for payer access, retention, reimbursement performance, and overall relationship health.
- • Day to day, the person will engage with Director-, Vice President-, and Senior Vice President-level payer leaders, lead executive-level engagement, drive reimbursement and performance optimization initiatives, collaborate with internal clinical, contracting, policy, analytic, finance and operational teams, prepare executive summaries, and support governance and function development for the Strategic Payer Relations team.
- • The role operates within the newly formed Payer Relations and Market Strategy organization at AnewHealth, a nation-leading pharmacy care management company formed in 2023 from the combination of ExactCare and Tabula Rasa HealthCare, serving over 100,000 people across all 50 states with a team of 1,400+ members.
- • In this role, the person can develop expertise in strategic payer engagement, reimbursement model optimization, and healthcare economics; influence enterprise revenue and margin growth; contribute to building scalable processes for a growing function; and gain exposure to senior leadership while shaping the future of payer relations strategy at a national healthcare organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- • 10+ years of progressive experience in payer relations, health plan engagement, healthcare strategy, contracting support, or related healthcare leadership roles at payer organizations including PBMs, Health Plans or government payer organizations
- • Demonstrated experience engaging senior-level payer stakeholders (Director, VP, SVP)
- • Strong understanding of payer structures, reimbursement models, network access dynamics, and healthcare economics
- • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations
- • Strong executive communication skills, both written and verbal
