📋 Description

• Design and evolve the core control, data, and observability systems that power LiveKit Cloud, ensuring high availability and low latency for over 3 billion annual calls.
• Implement resilient, region-spanning architectures that gracefully degrade under partial failures while maintaining service integrity across global deployments.
• Build reusable libraries, protocols, and tooling that improve reliability and accelerate developer velocity across the engineering organization.
• Diagnose and harden critical system paths using metrics, distributed tracing, automated testing, and real-world traffic analysis to identify and eliminate failure points.
• Shape new platform capabilities in identity management, scheduling, observability, and distributed state management to support evolving multimodal AI interface requirements.
• Work directly on production-critical infrastructure where latency, correctness, and operational simplicity are non-negotiable — the infrastructure is the product.
• Collaborate with a small, senior engineering team where your decisions ship directly to production and impact millions of users and developers globally.
• Prototype, test, deploy, monitor, and iterate on systems end-to-end with full ownership of outcomes from concept to operational stability.
• Reduce complex distributed systems into understandable components by focusing on data flow, state consistency, performance tradeoffs, and failure mode resilience.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers and stakeholders to align on architecture decisions and operational best practices.
• Use Go, psrpc, gRPC, Raft, NATS, Kubernetes, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and ClickHouse to build and maintain scalable, high-performance systems.
• Contribute to LiveKit’s open-source ecosystem by submitting thoughtful GitHub issues and pull requests that demonstrate deep technical understanding and practical problem-solving.
• Maintain a bias for practical engineering — prioritize solutions that are fast, reliable, and maintainable over theoretically optimal but overly complex designs.
• Continuously learn and adapt to new tools and languages, demonstrating rapid mastery of unfamiliar technologies to solve emerging infrastructure challenges.
• Foster a culture of clear communication, operational transparency, and systems that other engineers enjoy working with and extending.
