  • • Develop, implement, and manage multi-year strategies for cultivating and soliciting gifts from corporate, foundation, institutional, and individual donors.
  • • Build and maintain long-term relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective donors, advancing them from annual giving to major or planned gifts.
  • • Conduct direct asks for gifts of $75,000 or more, including planned gifts, assets, trade lands, and non-cash contributions.
  • • Incorporate blended gifts and gifts of assets into donor proposals, demonstrating proficiency in charitable giving vehicles such as Donor Advised Funds, operating foundations, and private foundations.
  • • Utilize organizational budget knowledge to build accurate and compelling proposal budgets aligned with conservation priorities.
  • • Staff chapter leadership as a moves manager and manage assigned trustee relationships and volunteer engagement.
  • • Work across chapters and programs to coordinate fundraising efforts and manage a referral network.
  • • Use the organization’s donor database to track, manage, and report on multiple prospects and donor interactions.
  • • Educate donors on appropriate giving options, including complex charitable gift planning and tax-advantaged giving strategies.
  • • Apply listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong donor relationships and motivate contributions.
  • • Negotiate complex, high-profile, or sensitive agreements related to major gifts and planned giving.
  • • Travel frequently and on short notice, and work extended hours including weekends as required to meet fundraising goals.
  • • Identify donor interests, capacity, and potential to align their philanthropic goals with the organization’s conservation mission.
  • • Design and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies covering cultivation, solicitation, and donor recognition.
  • • Maintain awareness of evolving trends in charitable giving, including capital campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving practices.
  • • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements related to fundraising and donor relations.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of related experience in fundraising or development
  • • Proven experience in asking for and closing gifts of $75,000 or more, including planned gifts
  • • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors and corporations
  • • Experience managing and tracking multiple donor prospects using a donor database
  • • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, including capital campaigns and planned giving
  • • Experience working with charitable giving vehicles such as Donor Advised Funds, private foundations, and operating foundations
