📋 Description

• Design and implement the secure-capture protocol that enables seamless, continuous payment experiences across voice, chat, telephony, and embedded platforms, ensuring the agent never sees plaintext cardholder data.
• Build and extend a tokenization platform using per-token envelope encryption with unique data keys per token, limiting exposure to a single compromised token.
• Own the security perimeter around the cardholder-data environment, enforcing access controls via infrastructure rather than convention, with auditability built into every component.
• Develop deterministic, auditable detection systems in the agent’s hot path to identify cardholder data that general-purpose LLMs miss, and contribute to designing a purpose-built detection model.
• Ensure no LLM—internal or external—ever processes plaintext cardholder data, maintaining PCI DSS Level 1 compliance across millions of payment events.
• Create a platform that allows other engineers to integrate payments without needing compliance expertise, enabling processor-agnostic charging, self-serve onboarding, and single-tenant deployments.
• Set technical direction for the team’s most complex problems, establishing reusable abstractions that eliminate customer-specific implementations and scale across global enterprise clients.
• Operate critical distributed systems end to end, from design and development through production deployment and on-call rotation, ensuring high reliability and low latency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align payment infrastructure with voice, LLM, and contact-center platform ecosystems, maintaining a unified event lifecycle regardless of customer stack differences.
• Maintain compliance with Visa’s Global Registry and uphold stringent security standards for handling sensitive financial data across multiple international jurisdictions.
• Drive the evolution of internal protocols, SDKs, and developer services that empower other engineering teams to build on top of the payments infrastructure without deep domain expertise.
• Continuously improve system resilience, observability, and audit trails to meet enterprise-grade security and regulatory requirements.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years building backend, platform, or infrastructure systems with a track record of shipping and operating high-reliability services in production at a strong engineering organization.
• Deep security instinct with natural reasoning about blast radius, least privilege, and making bad states impossible rather than reactive.
• Fluency in a systems language (Go preferred) and experience owning critical distributed systems end to end, including production and on-call.
• Proven record of setting technical direction on ambiguous, high-stakes problems and creating abstractions that hold up across teams and customers.
• Generalist mindset with ability to build clean abstractions over messy, inconsistent external systems and avoid solving problems repeatedly per customer.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
