📋 Description

• • ICF is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Distribution Substation Designer to join our dynamic, client-focused team. This fully remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the execution of critical distribution substation projects, ranging from 12kV to 69kV, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional quality and innovative engineering solutions. You will be instrumental in re-imagining, re-designing, and re-engineering how electric utilities address complex industry challenges, working alongside passionate professionals dedicated to advancing the field.
• • As a Distribution Substation Designer, your primary responsibility will be the meticulous design and preparation of a comprehensive suite of substation drawings. This includes, but is not limited to, developing detailed One Line and Three Line diagrams, Station General Arrangements and Sections, Grounding Plans and Details, and Conduit Plans and Details. You will also be responsible for designing Control Cubicle Layouts, Sections, Cable Tray systems, Lighting, and Grounding configurations, as well as Low-Voltage AC Panels and Protective Schemes.
• • Furthermore, your role will involve creating Substation Relay One Lines and Three Lines, AC/DC Schematics, Substation Panel Layouts, Substation Wiring Diagrams, and Cable Schedules. You will also be tasked with generating SCADA and Communication Diagrams, ensuring all electrical and control systems are accurately represented and integrated.
• • A key aspect of your role will be the development of accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on established design criteria. This requires a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of the components needed for substation construction and operation.
• • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including physical, protection & controls, and drafting disciplines, to guarantee the delivery of high-quality, cohesive project deliverables. This collaborative approach ensures that all aspects of the design are integrated seamlessly and meet project requirements.
• • The position requires active participation in client meetings, providing technical insights and contributing to project discussions. You will also be expected to perform site visits as necessary for data gathering, ensuring that designs are grounded in real-world conditions and constraints.
• • A significant part of your work will involve interpreting and incorporating vendor information into design deliverables, ensuring that specified equipment and materials are accurately reflected in the project documentation.
• • You will be responsible for applying client-specific standards and guidelines to all aspects of your design work, ensuring compliance and consistency across projects.
• • A critical component of your role is to perform and ensure adherence to the company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes for all design packages. This commitment to quality is paramount in delivering reliable and safe substation designs.
