- • Bonterra is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Manager to lead and mentor 1-2 Scrum development teams, driving innovation and delivering high-quality software solutions that empower social good organizations. As a key technical leader and people manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our technology platform, which is dedicated to advancing democratic and progressive causes. Our mission is to provide the most effective technology for trailblazers, campaigners, and advocates fighting for equality, racial justice, reproductive freedom, democracy, and climate reform. We proudly serve national Democratic committees, progressive organizations, thousands of Democratic campaigns, hundreds of labor unions, advocacy groups, and other vital organizations.
- • In this role, you will be instrumental in fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment. You will work closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads to meticulously estimate and refine future work, ensuring clear roadmaps and achievable goals. Your ability to communicate effectively will be crucial as you regularly report on team progress, health, and any potential impediments to success. By actively managing and developing your team members, you will cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, high morale, and sustained performance. Your leadership will be essential in identifying and proactively overcoming obstacles that stand in the way of project success, ensuring that our teams can deliver impactful solutions efficiently and effectively.
- • You will be responsible for the technical direction and execution of your teams, guiding them through the software development lifecycle. This includes overseeing the design, development, testing, and deployment of new features and enhancements. A strong understanding of our technology stack, including .NET (4.5 or above), C#, React, and Microsoft SQL Server 2017/Azure SQL, will be vital. You will also be expected to leverage your expertise in cloud technologies, particularly Azure, to optimize our infrastructure and services. While experience with legacy Angular and AngularJS is beneficial, your primary focus will be on modernizing and maintaining our cutting-edge solutions.
- • Beyond the technical aspects, your role as a people manager is paramount. You will be dedicated to the growth and development of your engineers, providing regular feedback, coaching, and opportunities for skill enhancement. This includes conducting performance reviews, facilitating career path discussions, and ensuring that each team member feels supported and valued. Building strong relationships within your team and across departments, including Product Management, QA, and other engineering teams, will be key to fostering a cohesive and productive work environment. Your leadership will inspire your teams to tackle complex challenges and deliver exceptional results that directly contribute to our mission of powering social impact.
- • This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a company that is making a tangible difference in the world. You will be part of a team that is passionate about using technology for good, and your work will directly impact the effectiveness of organizations working to create a more just and equitable society. We are looking for a leader who is not only technically proficient but also deeply committed to our values and mission. You will have the autonomy to shape your teams' processes and methodologies, encouraging innovation and best practices in software development. Your insights into web scalability problems and patterns will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve our platform to meet the increasing demands of our clients.
- • We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable culture where every team member belongs and contributes to meaningful impact. You will be a champion for this culture within your teams, promoting diversity, collaboration, and mutual respect. Your leadership will extend to ensuring that our development processes are agile, efficient, and aligned with Bonterra's strategic objectives. By driving technical excellence and nurturing talent, you will help us continue to be the winningest technology platform in the history of democratic and progressive causes, empowering those who power social impact.
