📋 Description

• Senior Software Engineer role at Bonterra Tech Holdings LLC (NGP VAN) focused on building and maintaining voter/donor management platforms for progressive campaigns and nonprofits.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing complex features, participating in architecture decisions, mentoring junior engineers through code reviews, owning product health by identifying technical debt and proposing improvements, and collaborating with QA, product, and data teams to ensure quality and measure impact.
• The team is part of NGP VAN’s Political, Fundraising, and Engagement Engineering group, which powers tools used by Democratic committees, labor unions, advocacy organizations, and progressive campaigns nationwide to advance civic engagement, racial justice, climate reform, and reproductive freedom.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in scalable systems, AI-enhanced features, and mission-driven technology while mentoring peers and influencing architectural direction in a union-represented, inclusive engineering culture.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Deep hands-on experience with both C# and JavaScript / ReactJS
• Strong foundation in SQL Server and relational database query design
• Experience building or maintaining APIs, third-party integrations, or distributed systems
• Understanding of web scalability challenges (caching strategies, data modeling, async patterns)
• Comfortable using AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.) in day-to-day workflow
• Comfort with mentoring and participating in architecture discussions
• Alignment to work with Democratic political campaigns and progressive nonprofits
