- • Develop, review, and provide quality assurance for Mathematics assessment items aligned to approved item and test specifications for early childhood education (K–2).
- • Support the development and refinement of item specifications, scoring rubrics, scoring guides, and assessment frameworks for early childhood mathematics assessments.
- • Review and apply state educational standards and content requirements to ensure assessments are valid, reliable, and properly aligned to state and program-specific frameworks.
- • Review and interpret disaggregated student performance data to inform content decisions, learning standards, and assessment design improvements.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with item writers, consultants, editors, psychometricians, program managers, and clients throughout the entire assessment development lifecycle.
- • Ensure all assessment materials are mathematically accurate, developmentally appropriate for young learners, and culturally relevant.
- • Provide content-based guidance to clients regarding K–2 mathematics products, including alignment to instructional goals and assessment outcomes.
- • Maintain strict attention to detail in all aspects of assessment content, from item wording to scoring criteria and data interpretation.
- • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
- • Identify challenges in assessment design and conceptualize practical, evidence-based solutions to improve validity and usability.
- • Work within a highly collaborative, cross-disciplinary team structure, often with geographically distributed colleagues.
- • Travel up to 8 weeks per year, in increments of 2–5 days at a time, to support client meetings, training sessions, or assessment development workshops.
- • Utilize data skills to analyze performance trends and translate findings into actionable recommendations for assessment and curriculum teams.
- • Ensure all assessment content meets accessibility and equity standards for early learners across diverse populations.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of digital assessment platforms and technology-enabled authoring environments as part of the product development process.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
- • At least five to eight (5–8) years of experience developing, reviewing, or supporting statewide or national educational assessments
- • At least four (4) years of experience working in K–2 elementary education, specifically in early-childhood mathematics
- • Demonstrated experience aligning instructional or assessment content to state standards and specific market or program requirements
- • Ability to travel 2–5 days at a time, up to a total of 8 weeks per year
- • Data skills and strong attention to detail
