  • • PATH seeks Ebola Response Consultants for the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Project to support and strengthen surveillance, detection, and analytical capacity for infectious diseases across human and animal health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in Eastern DRC.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting surveillance and epidemiology activities such as case detection, alert management, outbreak investigation, contact tracing, transmission chain analysis, and producing situation reports, dashboards, and risk assessments; strengthening health information systems through DHIS2 configuration, data management, interoperability, and quality assurance; applying GIS and spatial epidemiology for geolocation, hotspot analysis, and mapping; and providing capacity strengthening via training, mentoring, coordination with government and partner organizations, and documentation of lessons learned.
  • • PATH is a global nonprofit with over 40 years of experience advancing health equity through multisector partnerships, scientific innovation, and scalable solutions to pressing global health challenges.
  • • Consultants will gain hands-on experience in high-stakes outbreak response, deepen expertise in infectious disease surveillance systems, contribute to life-saving public health interventions, and strengthen leadership and technical coordination skills in complex, resource-constrained environments.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Master’s degree or international equivalent in epidemiology, public health, medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, health informatics, biostatistics, geographic information systems, data science, computer science, or another relevant field
  • • At least five years of relevant professional experience in public health surveillance, field epidemiology, outbreak response, contact tracing, health information systems, data management, GIS, or a related technical area
  • • Demonstrated experience supporting an Ebola outbreak, another viral hemorrhagic fever response, or a comparable high-consequence infectious disease emergency
  • • Fluency in written and spoken English and French
  • • Willingness and ability to deploy to Eastern DRC on short notice for periods of up to six weeks at a time
  • • Ability and willingness to work in remote, resource-constrained, high-pressure, and potentially insecure environments
