đź“‹ Description
- • Lyte, Inc. is at the forefront of developing advanced perception systems for Physical AI, enabling robots and autonomous systems to operate effectively in complex, real-world environments. Our innovative platform integrates custom silicon, sophisticated sensors, and intelligent software to create a unified solution for robotics, mobility, and the next generation of automation. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with a growing global presence, Lyte is a place where passion for building impactful technology meets a dynamic, hands-on approach.
- • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Embedded Software Tools Engineer to join our talented team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the essential software tools that empower our engineers to develop, test, manufacture, and deploy embedded systems at an unprecedented scale. Your primary focus will be on creating robust internal tools, streamlined workflows, and resilient infrastructure that support our firmware, driver, and system engineers across all stages of the product lifecycle – from initial development and validation to factory production and field deployment.
- • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including embedded software, firmware, silicon design, systems engineering, test engineering, and manufacturing, to deeply understand their unique workflows and identify key pain points. Your mission will be to architect and implement tools that significantly enhance developer productivity, elevate software quality, broaden test coverage, and improve overall system reliability, ensuring a seamless journey from early hardware bring-up through to factory integration and ongoing field operation.
- • Key responsibilities include:
- • Designing, developing, and maintaining a comprehensive suite of embedded software development and test tools utilized across the entire organization.
- • Building specialized tooling to support critical processes such as Chip, SoC, and board bring-up, ensuring smooth and efficient initialization of new hardware.
- • Developing robust solutions for firmware and driver development, enabling our engineers to create and iterate on low-level software with confidence.
- • Creating tools for the characterization of both RTOS- and Linux-based embedded systems, providing deep insights into system performance and behavior.
- • Developing and enhancing tools for the flashing, provisioning, configuration, calibration, and recovery of embedded devices, ensuring they can be reliably deployed and managed.
- • Building sophisticated debugging, tracing, and diagnostics tools that seamlessly interface with hardware debug interfaces like JTAG, SWD, and other advanced debugging mechanisms.
- • Developing and optimizing target-side firmware, bootloaders, kernels, and drivers, ensuring they are well-supported by our tooling infrastructure.
- • Implementing automation for critical pipelines, including build automation, test automation, and deployment pipelines, to accelerate the development cycle.
- • Creating and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and system-level testing frameworks, enabling comprehensive validation of our systems.
- • Designing and maintaining specialized tooling for factory use cases, including board and system-level test automation, production flashing and configuration, and robust validation, calibration, and pass/fail reporting systems.
- • Developing simulation, emulation, and test harnesses to facilitate faster iteration cycles and reduce reliance on physical hardware for certain testing scenarios.
- • Integrating toolchains across a diverse range of heterogeneous targets, including MCUs, CPUs, DSPs, NPUs, GPUs, and custom ASICs, ensuring a unified development experience.
- • Improving the observability of embedded systems through advanced logging, metrics collection, tracing capabilities, and crash analysis tools, providing critical insights into system health and performance.
- • Ensuring that all developed tools are reliable, scalable, secure, and exceptionally easy for both engineers and factory operators to use, minimizing the learning curve and maximizing efficiency.
- • Collaborating proactively with firmware, driver, hardware, test, manufacturing, and systems teams to define precise requirements and establish clear interface specifications for all tooling.
- • Providing essential support for production, manufacturing, and field-debug workflows by delivering robust tooling and assisting with root-cause analysis for any issues that arise.
- • Championing modern development workflows, including Git-based version control, rigorous code reviews, and efficient CI pipelines.
- • Implementing and optimizing build systems and tooling such as CMake, Make, Bazel, or similar, ensuring reproducible and efficient builds.
- • Developing and deploying advanced debugging, profiling, and tracing tools tailored for both embedded and Linux environments.
- • Creating and maintaining automation frameworks for development, testing, and factory workflows, driving efficiency and consistency.
- • Upholding strong documentation practices, including the creation of comprehensive tool usage guides, onboarding documentation, factory procedures, and detailed troubleshooting manuals.
- • Promoting embedded software best practices, focusing on reproducible builds, deterministic tooling and test results, robust error handling and diagnostics, and ensuring the long-term maintainability and scalability of our tooling and infrastructure.
