📋 Description
- • Engineer IV, System Validation Test at NETGEAR, Inc. is a critical role focused on ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of advanced networking products through rigorous validation of L2 and L3 protocols, directly impacting customer experience and product market readiness.
- • The role involves designing, executing, and automating comprehensive test strategies for complex networking features, contributing to the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions used by businesses and consumers worldwide.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and developing detailed test plans and test cases for L2/L3 networking protocols such as VLANs, IPv4/IPv6 forwarding, routing protocols, TCP/IP suite, VPN (IPsec), NAT, DHCP, and SNMP.
- • The engineer will develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts for functional, regression, and performance testing, enabling efficient and repeatable validation across software releases.
- • Utilizing industry-standard tools like Ixia, Spirent traffic generators and Wireshark packet analyzers, the role involves benchmarking, data plane testing, and troubleshooting to isolate and resolve issues across network layers.
- • Debugging and analyzing test results to identify, document, and track software defects is a core function, requiring close collaboration with development teams to ensure timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- • The position demands active collaboration with cross-functional teams including product management and development to translate requirements into effective test scenarios and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- • The engineer will champion process improvements in QA methodologies, advocating for best practices in test automation, coverage, and efficiency to elevate overall product quality.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- • 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in manual and automated testing of networking products.
- • Deep understanding and hands-on experience working with L2 and L3 networking protocols, including VLANs, IPv4/IPv6 forwarding, routing protocols, TCP/IP suite, VPN (IPsec), NAT, DHCP, and SNMP.
- • Proficiency in Python scripting for test automation.
- • Experience with networking test tools such as Ixia, Spirent, or Wireshark.
- • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command-line operations.
- • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills across data, control, and management planes.
- • Excellent communication skills for documenting test plans, results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
