Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As an Engineer III at NETGEAR, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s cloud-based Network Management System (NMS) platform, directly contributing to solutions that empower businesses and service providers to monitor, configure, and optimize network infrastructure at scale. Your work will bridge software innovation with real-world networking challenges, enabling reliable connectivity for enterprises worldwide.
  • • You will own end-to-end development of medium-complexity features, from initial design through deployment and support, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions that meet the evolving needs of network administrators and field technicians managing complex enterprise environments.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and maintaining network device configuration modules using modern frontend frameworks like React.js or Angular with TypeScript, creating intuitive monitoring dashboards with interactive data visualizations (charts, graphs, topology maps), and implementing real-time updates via WebSocket or Server-Sent Events to reflect live network telemetry.
  • • You will build and refine integrations with diverse network equipment vendors using protocols such as SNMP, SSH, and HTTP-based APIs, ensuring seamless communication between the NMS platform and devices like switches, routers, and access points across multi-vendor environments.
  • • Collaboration with backend teams will be central to your role, as you design and consume RESTful APIs for device management, contribute to Node.js, Python, or Java-based services, and help optimize data flows between frontend interfaces and time-series or relational databases storing network metrics.
  • • Performance optimization will be a key focus, involving profiling and tuning applications to efficiently handle high-volume telemetry streams, reduce latency in dashboard updates, and ensure responsiveness under load through efficient state management and caching strategies.
  • • You will contribute to mobile applications used by field technicians, enabling on-site device configuration and troubleshooting, thereby extending the platform’s reach beyond traditional network operations centers into field deployment scenarios.
  • • Automation will be another critical area, where you develop scripts and tools for bulk device provisioning, firmware updates, and configuration backups, reducing manual effort and minimizing human error in large-scale network operations.
  • • When issues arise, you will lead debugging efforts for customer-reported problems in network workflows, reproducing issues in test environments, analyzing logs, and implementing fixes while maintaining clear communication with support and customer success teams.
  • • As a senior individual contributor, you will mentor Engineer II team members through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the engineering team.
  • • You will stay current with emerging networking technologies—such as SD-WAN, IoT device management, and intent-based networking—by conducting research and evaluating their potential integration into the NETGEAR NMS platform to keep it competitive and future-ready.
  • • The engineering team at NETGEAR operates in a collaborative, Agile-driven environment that values innovation, accountability, and technical depth, with a strong focus on delivering reliable, secure, and user-centric network management solutions used by ISPs, enterprises, and service providers globally.
  • • NETGEAR’s mission to 'unleash the full potential of connectivity' is reflected in its investment in intelligent networking software, and this role offers direct exposure to how software enables physical hardware to deliver smarter, safer, and more efficient network experiences.
  • • You will gain deep, hands-on experience in enterprise network management, including understanding key performance indicators (KPIs), topology mapping, fault detection, and configuration compliance—skills that are highly transferable across networking, cloud, and infrastructure domains.
  • • This role provides a clear path toward technical specialization in network management software, with opportunities to influence architectural decisions, lead feature areas, and grow into leadership or expert individual contributor roles as you develop mastery in both software engineering and networking fundamentals.
