📋 Description

• As an Engineering Executive Leader (CTL) for the CommSee Crew at CBA, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing digital banking through AI and advanced technology. This pivotal role involves leading the transformation of our core customer management platform, CommSee, into a modern, cloud-based, and intuitive system designed to empower our frontline teams. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of customer experience by leveraging intelligent, adaptive technologies, positioning CBA as a global leader in AI capabilities within the banking sector.
• Your primary responsibility will be to define and own the technology roadmap for the CommSee Crew, ensuring seamless integration with broader enterprise architecture and modernization strategies. This involves not just strategic planning but also hands-on leadership in driving large-scale technology transformations and building complex, scalable, and reliable systems that are critical to our operations.
• A key aspect of this role is to lead the next evolution of our AI-powered engineering practices. You will embed intelligent automation, code generation, and data-driven insights to significantly accelerate delivery cycles, enhance code quality, and dramatically improve engineering velocity. This means staying ahead of the curve in adopting cutting-edge AI tools and methodologies to optimize our development processes.
• You are expected to remain deeply connected to the engineering craft. This hands-on involvement includes contributing to solution design, architecture, and complex engineering problem-solving. By setting a high benchmark for technical excellence, you will inspire and guide the engineering teams to achieve outstanding results.
• Ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of all technology assets is paramount. You will oversee these critical aspects across both production and pre-production environments, implementing robust strategies to maintain system integrity and user satisfaction.
• A significant part of your role will be to proactively remove technical blockers. This involves decoupling applications, streamlining development and deployment processes, and enabling autonomous, high-paced delivery for your teams. Your ability to identify and resolve systemic issues will be crucial for maintaining momentum.
• You will be responsible for actively managing technology risks, systematically reducing technical debt, and optimizing the total cost of ownership for both ongoing operations (run) and new development (change) activities. This requires a strategic approach to resource allocation and technical investment.
• Leading and developing engineering capability within the Crew is a core function. You will achieve this through dedicated coaching and mentoring of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, and embedding modern practices such as DevSecOps and AI-driven automation. Your leadership will cultivate an environment where engineers can grow their skills and contribute effectively.
• We are looking for visionary technologists who possess deep expertise across software engineering, platforms, architecture, and data. You will apply this knowledge to shape the strategic evolution of complex, mission-critical systems, ensuring they are robust, future-proof, and aligned with CBA's strategic objectives.
• The ideal candidate will blend exceptional technical acumen with inspirational people leadership. • Fluency in cloud-native technologies, microservices architectures, APIs, and enterprise-scale integration patterns is a must. Experience in modernizing legacy ecosystems is also highly valued, as you will be guiding the transition to more agile and scalable solutions.
• You will harness the power of AI-enabled engineering and automation to accelerate delivery, uplift quality, and build scalable, intelligent, and future-proof platforms. This includes leveraging AI for code analysis, testing, and operational insights.
• Staying close to the engineering craft means having the capability to dive into modern programming languages, frameworks, and tooling when necessary. This hands-on approach is vital for guiding teams through complex engineering challenges and maintaining credibility.
