- • As an Engineering Lead in the KYC team at Airwallex, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building scalable automation tools and AI-driven systems that streamline user onboarding, enhance risk detection, and improve internal operational efficiency for a global financial platform serving over 200,000 businesses. This role is critical to Airwallex’s mission of creating the future of global banking by reducing manual effort, increasing accuracy in compliance workflows, and enabling faster, safer onboarding for customers worldwide.
- • You will lead technical execution by collaborating with product, operations, compliance, and engineering teams to define requirements, architect solutions, and deliver high-impact features at scale — including fraud prevention systems, intelligent onboarding workflows, and automation platforms that reduce cycle times and improve user experience across Airwallex’s global footprint.
- • The KYC team operates at the intersection of fintech, compliance, and AI, working within a high-trust, high-velocity environment where engineering excellence directly impacts regulatory adherence, customer trust, and business scalability. You’ll join a global team of over 2,000 innovators across 26 offices, backed by $8B valuation and strategic investors like Visa, Mastercard, and Sequoia, where your work contributes to mission-critical infrastructure used by industry leaders such as Brex, Rippling, Qantas, and SHEIN.
- • In this role, you will grow as a technical leader by mentoring junior engineers, shaping team culture, and influencing architectural decisions — gaining hands-on experience in applying AI/ML to real-world risk and automation challenges while deepening your expertise in fintech systems, cloud-native architectures, and compliance-driven software development in a fast-paced, founder-led environment.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- • Strong proficiency in backend or frontend development using Kotlin, Java, React, or TypeScript
- • Proven ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into effective technical solutions
- • Excellent organizational and communication skills with demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration
- • Hands-on experience building scalable, robust automation or workflow systems
