- • As an Engineering Lead in the KYC team at Airwallex, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building scalable automation tools and systems that directly improve internal operational efficiency and enhance the customer onboarding experience for over 200,000 global businesses. This role is critical to Airwallex’s mission of creating a unified global payments and financial platform, where your work will help detect and mitigate fraud, streamline user registration, and leverage AI to solve high-impact problems at scale.
- • You will lead the technical direction of KYC-focused systems by developing AI and data-driven solutions to predict user risks, prevent fraudulent activities, and automate manual workflows. This includes collaborating with product, operations, compliance, and engineering teams to translate complex business needs into robust, production-ready systems while maintaining high standards for reliability, performance, and scalability.
- • You will serve as a technical mentor and role model for junior engineers, fostering their growth through code reviews, architectural discussions, and hands-on guidance as the team expands in Singapore. Your leadership will help cultivate a culture of ownership, curiosity, and first-principles thinking aligned with Airwallex’s operating principles.
- • The KYC team operates at the intersection of fintech, compliance, and automation, working within Airwallex’s global engineering organization of over 2,000 innovators across 26 offices. Backed by tier-one investors and valued at US$8 billion, the company offers a high-impact environment where your contributions will directly influence the scalability and security of its platform used by industry leaders like Brex, Qantas, and SHEIN.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in building AI-enhanced automation systems, gain experience leading engineering initiatives in a fast-paced fintech environment, and develop strong cross-functional collaboration skills with product, compliance, and operations teams. 🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- • Minimum of 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- • Proven ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- • Strong organizational and communication skills with demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration.
- • Solid backend or frontend development experience using Kotlin, Java, React, or TypeScript.
- • Hands-on experience building scalable, robust automation or workflow systems.
