đź“‹ Description

  • • Lindus Health is on a mission to revolutionize clinical trials, making them faster, more reliable, and ultimately bringing life-saving treatments to patients sooner. We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a team dedicated to building the next-generation platform for clinical trials. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare technology, scale a high-performing engineering team, and contribute directly to improving patient outcomes.
  • • As an Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within your team. You will guide and mentor software engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and robust software solutions that meet the complex demands of the clinical research industry.
  • • Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of team leadership, from individual development and performance management to technical guidance and strategic planning. You will work closely with product management and other cross-functional teams to translate user needs and business objectives into actionable technical roadmaps.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves understanding the intricacies of clinical trials and the regulatory landscape. You will ensure your team's processes and deliverables are aligned with relevant frameworks, particularly in a regulated environment like health tech.
  • • You will be empowered to make significant contributions to the team's technical direction, including architectural decisions, planning, and estimation, leveraging your hands-on engineering background. This role also involves active participation in the recruitment process, helping to attract and retain top engineering talent.
  • • In your first month, you will immerse yourself in the world of clinical trials, gaining a deep understanding of the problems Lindus Health is solving. You will build rapport with your direct reports (up to 6-8 software engineers) and familiarize yourself with the team's technology stack, which includes React, TypeScript, Django, Python, Postgres, and Amazon ECS. Setting up your development environment and making a small code change will be part of this initial immersion.
  • • Within your first three months, your focus will shift to empowering your team. You will support their personal and professional development by setting clear expectations, providing coaching and mentorship, and holding them accountable for their goals. You will lead the team in delivering high-quality software by understanding user needs, refining development processes, and assisting with prioritization and risk management.
  • • You will actively participate in team rituals such as product planning, retrospectives, release management, and backlog grooming. Your prior hands-on engineering experience will be invaluable in providing input on architecture, planning, and estimates. You will also contribute to ongoing engineering recruitment efforts.
  • • Over the course of your first year, you will cultivate a supportive and psychologically safe environment where engineers can learn, grow, and take calculated risks. You will collaborate closely with product management on roadmapping and resource allocation. Becoming proficient in regulatory frameworks applicable to clinical trials and ensuring your team's adherence will be a critical objective.
  • • You will develop a profound understanding of user needs, ensuring they remain at the forefront of all technical decisions. Supporting cross-functional collaboration, particularly with clinical operations, will be essential. Furthermore, you will contribute to the evolution of the product organization, potentially assisting with squad organization and the development of career frameworks.
  • • This role is ideal for an early-to-mid career engineering leader with a broad technical foundation and a passion for people management. You should be an excellent communicator and motivator, comfortable providing direct feedback and resolving conflicts. A product-minded approach, a desire to understand the 'why' behind development, and strong collaboration skills are essential. The ability to occasionally engage in non-critical hands-on coding will help you stay connected to your team's daily realities.
  • • Lindus Health fosters a fast-paced, growth-oriented startup environment where you can take on diverse responsibilities and rapidly advance your management and leadership capabilities. We value outcomes over all else and encourage a no-ego, collaborative culture where creativity is celebrated and fun is a core value.
  • • This is a hybrid, onsite role based in London, UK. Following an initial onboarding period at our headquarters near London Bridge, a minimum of two days per week in the office is expected, facilitating regular team collaboration and connection.
