- • As an Engineering Manager at DataDome, you will take the helm of our Edge Detection Team, a dynamic group of 5 talented engineers dedicated to building and refining the real-time systems that protect our clients from sophisticated bot and AI-driven threats. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team at the forefront of cybersecurity technology, where innovation meets ultra-low latency performance.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to foster a high-performing and collaborative team environment. You will guide the professional development and career growth of your engineers, from intermediate to senior and tech lead positions, ensuring they have the support and opportunities to excel. This involves regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and creating a culture of continuous learning and mentorship.
- • You will be instrumental in empowering your team to deliver robust, production-ready solutions that meet our stringent performance requirements, specifically maintaining sub-5ms p99 latency. This means championing best practices in software development, code quality, and efficient workflows, ensuring that the team operates at peak efficiency while upholding the highest standards of reliability.
- • A key aspect of this role is defining and evolving the technological vision and roadmap for our detection engine. You will work closely with your team and other stakeholders to anticipate and address emerging threats, particularly those posed by increasingly sophisticated AI-driven agents. This involves staying abreast of industry trends and translating them into actionable technical strategies.
- • Collaboration is central to success at DataDome. You will lead and participate in cross-team initiatives, working hand-in-hand with the Streaming Engine squad, Product Management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Threat Research teams. This ensures seamless integration and alignment across different engineering functions and a unified approach to product development and operational excellence.
- • You will establish and track team objectives using OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), ensuring that the team's efforts are aligned with broader company goals. This involves balancing the drive for innovation with the critical need for operational stability and reliability, making data-informed decisions to prioritize and execute effectively.
- • To maintain technical sharpness and a deep understanding of the challenges your team faces, you will contribute hands-on to the Java codebase, dedicating approximately 30% of your time to coding. This blend of management and technical contribution allows you to provide practical guidance, review code, and remain an active participant in the engineering process.
- • Ensuring the reliability of our production systems is paramount. You will participate in on-call rotations alongside your team, providing direct support and rapid response to any critical issues that may arise. This shared responsibility reinforces our commitment to system uptime and customer trust.
- • The Edge Detection Team is at the heart of DataDome's real-time traffic analysis. You will be leading efforts to optimize performance, enhance detection algorithms, and ensure the scalability of our systems to handle billions of events daily. This involves tackling complex architectural challenges and driving technical excellence within your team.
- • You will play a vital role in attracting and retaining top engineering talent, contributing to the growth and success of the engineering department. This includes participating in the hiring process, onboarding new team members, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
