• • As ScorePlay enters a pivotal phase of scaling its product and engineering organization to support exponential growth, we are seeking our first Engineering Manager to partner with our CTO and Head of Engineering. This role is instrumental in shaping our engineering structure, fostering robust mentorship, and elevating our team's ability to deliver at scale, all while preserving the high standards of craftsmanship and the unique culture that define ScorePlay.
• • You will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and supporting a dedicated team of 4-6 talented engineers. This involves cultivating a supportive environment where junior and mid-level developers can thrive through regular one-on-one meetings, constructive code reviews, and diligent project check-ins. Your leadership will be key in building a culture that champions technical excellence, fosters deep collaboration, and ensures psychological safety, encouraging engineers to seek help proactively and embrace continuous learning.
• • A core part of your role will be defining clear career paths and comprehensive growth frameworks. These initiatives will be crucial in enabling your team members to develop professionally and achieve their full potential as the company scales rapidly. You will own the entire delivery rhythm for your feature team, overseeing the process from initial scoping and design through to final shipping and quality assurance.
• • You will translate high-level product objectives into actionable technical plans, working in close collaboration with Product Managers and the Design team. Proactive identification of potential blockers, quality risks, and technical debt will be essential. You will guide your team in effectively navigating and mitigating these challenges, ensuring smooth and efficient project execution.
• • While focused on leadership, you will remain closely connected to the codebase. This includes reviewing architectural proposals, assisting in debugging complex issues, and occasionally prototyping or implementing small fixes when it demonstrably accelerates the team's progress. This hands-on involvement ensures technical credibility and a deep understanding of the engineering challenges.
• • You will serve as a critical bridge between Product, Engineering, and our Customers. This involves partnering closely with Product Managers to prepare for pre-planning sessions and ensuring that backlog grooming cycles are both smooth and highly productive. You will also collaborate directly with customer technical teams on API integrations and complex enterprise workflows, providing essential technical guidance and support.
• • Your technical expertise will be a valuable asset in product discussions, ensuring that the solutions we build are not only innovative but also technically feasible, scalable, and maintainable in the long term.
• • A significant aspect of this role is shaping the future of our engineering organization. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing the processes, rituals, and best practices that will enable sustainable scaling. In partnership with the Head of Engineering and CTO, you will contribute to org design, hiring strategies, and the onboarding process for new engineers.
• • You will champion a mindset of clean, elegant, and scalable engineering across all teams, influencing decisions from code reviews to high-level architectural choices. This commitment to quality and forward-thinking design will be a cornerstone of our engineering culture.
