• As a Series A SaaS company, backed by prominent investors like FirstMark (known for its investments in Shopify, Pinterest, and Airbnb), Vendelux is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team in New York City. This is a pivotal role where you will lead and mentor our expanding software engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable products that directly impact our business success.
• This position offers a unique blend of people management, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be instrumental in shaping the engineering culture, fostering professional growth among your team members, and driving efficient execution of our product roadmap. The ideal candidate is a natural coach, a strategic thinker, and a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Your responsibilities will span the entire software development lifecycle. You will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and developing top-tier engineering talent, cultivating a team that embodies ownership, continuous improvement, and open communication. Through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and dedicated career development coaching, you will ensure individual growth aligns seamlessly with business objectives and the evolving product direction.
• On the technical front, you will guide critical architectural decisions, champion engineering best practices, and collaborate closely with tech leads to meticulously plan, estimate, and deliver complex projects. Your commitment to code quality will be evident through rigorous code reviews, robust testing strategies, and comprehensive documentation. You will also be a key driver of continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing the reliability, scalability, and overall performance of our platform.
• Owning the end-to-end delivery of major product components will be a core aspect of your role. You will translate high-level business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps, skillfully balancing the need for short-term execution with strategic, long-term technical investments. A significant part of your contribution will involve proactively identifying and removing blockers, and optimizing team velocity through thoughtful process improvements.
• Collaboration is key to our success. You will forge strong partnerships with Product, Design, QA, and other cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and fostering a shared vision. Clear and transparent communication regarding engineering progress, potential tradeoffs, and project timelines will be essential. Your technical insights will be invaluable in influencing and supporting our product strategy, ensuring we build the most effective solutions for our customers.
• Our tech stack is modern and robust, featuring TypeScript, React, MUI/Shadcn, and Node.js on the frontend. The backend is powered by Python, Django, TypeScript, Node.js, with MySQL and Postgres databases, deployed on AWS and GCP. For data processing, we utilize Python, Dagster, and Snowflake. We leverage tools like Linear for project management, GitHub for version control, Datadog for monitoring, and are exploring AI coding assistants like Cursor and Claude Code to enhance developer productivity.
• This full-time position is based at our NYC headquarters. We operate on a hybrid work model, with an expectation of 4 days in the office per week, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment. You will report directly to our Head of Engineering, working closely with them to achieve our ambitious goals.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in engineering leadership, including people management and technical guidance.
• 5+ years of experience building complex, scalable applications using modern programming languages such as Python and/or TypeScript.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering software products at scale in a production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and inspire engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with solid business acumen to understand and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Comfort and familiarity with modern AI tools and their application in accelerating software development processes.
