- • Lead people management for 15–20 engineers across 2–3 Scrum teams within an Encompass release train, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, compensation input, and promotion recommendations.
- • Provide direct coaching, feedback, and career development support to Encompass engineers, ensuring alignment with CSG’s performance review cycles (end-of-PI, quarterly, and annual appraisals).
- • Deliver structured performance feedback for partner and other-organization developers to their respective line managers.
- • Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe culture across a globally distributed, predominantly remote engineering team.
- • Be accountable for delivery outcomes across 2–3 Scrum teams, ensuring predictability against PI and iteration objectives, sustainable throughput, and high-quality outputs.
- • Partner with Technical Leads and Scrum teams to validate the realism and achievability of PI and sprint plans based on team capacity and skill sets.
- • Ensure teams adhere to Encompass Engineering’s defined culture, standards, and practices in development, testing, release, deployment, documentation, and AI adoption.
- • Review and approve teams’ PI and iteration plans before formal sign-off.
- • Monitor team progress, identify risks and impediments, and escalate issues requiring leadership intervention.
- • Own and continuously improve core engineering practices: Development, Test, Release, Deployment & Documentation, and AI Adoption in Engineering.
- • Serve as Primary Practice Lead for one core engineering practice and potentially Secondary Lead for another, running the corresponding community of practice.
- • Translate Strategic Architect and System Architect vision into actionable standards, templates, and playbooks for engineering teams.
- • Plan and secure capacity for practice-related work—including frameworks, tools, training, documentation, and AI patterns—and ensure visibility in PI and sprint plans through collaboration with RTEs and Scrum Masters.
- • Track and improve practice health metrics such as automation coverage, documentation completeness, CI/CD health, AI usage impact, and change failure rate.
- • Promote responsible, human-in-the-loop use of AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Glean, AI-assisted test frameworks) for coding, testing, analysis, and documentation.
- • Ensure all AI usage complies with security, privacy, compliance, and quality guardrails established by the Strategic Architect Group.
- • Embed AI-assisted workflows into daily engineering activities to enhance productivity and code quality.
- • Measure the impact of AI adoption on productivity and quality, refining prompts, patterns, and training based on data and team feedback.
- • Shape team composition across 2–3 Scrum teams to optimize skills, experience, domain knowledge, growth opportunities, and resilience to attrition.
- • Ensure effective operation of Scrum Masters and Technical Leads within the Product Group.
- • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, RTE/ART leadership, Architecture, HR, Talent, and Finance on backlog prioritization, workforce planning, and people programs.
- • Actively participate in communities of practice (developers, testers, AI, etc.) and organization-wide initiatives across Bangalore and global locations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- • 8+ years in software engineering roles (Developer, SDET, or similar)
- • 3+ years in a people-leadership role (Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or equivalent), ideally leading multiple Agile teams
- • Demonstrated success delivering outcomes across multiple Scrum teams in an Agile/SAFe environment
- • Proven experience implementing and improving engineering practices (coding standards, testing, CI/CD, documentation)
- • Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe (Scrum, PI planning, ARTs, RTE, SM, PO roles)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to lead AI-native engineering practices across a global organization
- • Work in a remote, globally distributed environment with a focus on psychological safety and inclusion
