- • Partner closely with Product Managers and key stakeholders to define, align, and prioritize engineering roadmaps that directly support customer needs and business objectives.
- • Provide technical guidance through code reviews, architecture feedback, and design document evaluation, maintaining technical fluency without requiring daily coding.
- • Own end-to-end performance management for engineers, delivering timely, actionable feedback, addressing performance gaps proactively, and fostering continuous improvement.
- • Mentor engineers at all levels by creating personalized development plans that support career growth, skill expansion, and the cultivation of a growth mindset.
- • Design, implement, and refine engineering processes to increase team efficiency, improve code quality, and elevate technical standards across the organization.
- • Lead full-cycle hiring for engineering roles — sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and retaining top talent to support rapid team growth and scaling.
- • Drive a culture of ownership and proactive problem-solving by encouraging team members to identify and resolve issues without waiting for permission or hierarchy.
- • Facilitate open, transparent communication through regular feedback forums, first-principles discussions, and candid conversations that empower psychological safety and innovation.
- • Balance collaboration between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for stakeholders across the business.
- • Maintain hands-on familiarity with system architecture and modern development practices, enabling informed decision-making and credible technical coaching.
- • Navigate difficult conversations with decisiveness and empathy, ensuring performance, alignment, and cultural norms are consistently upheld.
- • Contribute to the growth and stabilization of engineering practices as Clipboard expands into new verticals including Home Health and Hospital staffing.
- • Support the scaling of a globally distributed engineering team spanning the U.S., Canada, India, Germany, Brazil, and beyond, with asynchronous workflows as the default.
- • Champion customer-centricity by ensuring engineering solutions directly improve the experiences of healthcare professionals and the facilities they serve.
- • Embrace ambiguity, iterate rapidly, and drive impact in a fast-paced, profitable startup environment that values urgency, curiosity, and ownership.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years leading software development teams as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Founder
- • Experience managing agile, high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced, geographically dispersed environments
- • Proven expertise in performance management, including addressing underperformance and providing growth-oriented feedback
- • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- • Hands-on experience with system design and technical architecture, even if not coding daily
- • Experience hiring, onboarding, and retaining top engineering talent in a scaling organization
