- • Lead a team of engineers responsible for a defined area of software architecture, with full accountability for delivery, quality, and technical direction.
- • Run an effective development process including sprint health, delivery cadence, incident response, postmortems, and a sustainable on-call rotation designed to prevent burnout.
- • Grow engineers on your team through regular feedback, structured performance conversations, and stretch assignments that drive measurable career progression.
- • Collaborate closely with product teams to scope initiatives, identify technical risks, prioritize deliverables, and communicate capacity constraints clearly and proactively.

- • Operate with autonomy in ambiguous situations, making decisions based on context without needing a predefined playbook, while knowing when to seek guidance.
- • Foster a culture of operational ownership by championing on-call practices, incident management, and postmortem learning to ensure system reliability and team resilience.
- • Communicate clearly and directly with engineering teams, product stakeholders, and leadership, with the judgment to know when to escalate issues and when to resolve them locally.

- • Engage in hiring and onboarding processes to bring in talent that aligns with Primer’s mission and engineering culture.
- • Represent the engineering team in cross-functional forums, translating technical constraints and opportunities into business context for leadership.
- • Promote a blameless postmortem culture that focuses on systemic improvements rather than individual fault.
- • Encourage innovation through experimentation and data-driven decision-making, ensuring engineering initiatives are aligned with business outcomes and customer impact.
🎯 Requirements
