📋 Description

• As an Engineering Manager at Deliveroo Holdings plc, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our revolutionary three-sided marketplace. This pivotal role is based at our vibrant London HQ, offering a hybrid working model that typically involves three days in the office, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• You will be instrumental in leading, nurturing, and expanding teams of world-class engineers, taking ownership of their technical execution and ensuring impactful delivery even amidst the complexities of scaling a global operation.
• Your primary responsibility will be to lead a multi-disciplinary team comprising Backend, iOS, Android, and Web engineers. You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Director, playing a crucial part in defining and executing the technical strategy that underpins Deliveroo's continued growth.
• A key aspect of your role will be to drive both technical and product strategy. This involves setting ambitious yet achievable project goals, providing expert guidance on implementation choices, and ensuring your team consistently meets and exceeds group-level performance metrics.

• You will be a key player in building and scaling our engineering capabilities. This includes actively participating in the hiring process, onboarding new talent effectively, and providing ongoing support for the personal and professional growth of all team members.
• Leading through ambiguity is a core requirement. You will guide your team, whether local or remote, through complex and often undefined challenges, ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact projects that contribute significantly to Deliveroo's strategic objectives.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience in people management, with a minimum of 2 years specifically leading engineering teams, including conducting performance reviews and setting clear goals.
• A strong technical foundation as a former Software Engineer, with a demonstrable track record of building user-focused products at a rapid pace.
• Proven success in team building, encompassing effective hiring, seamless onboarding, and dedicated support for the professional growth of team members.
• Demonstrated ability to lead effectively through ambiguity, managing both local and remote engineers to deliver high-impact projects.
• Experience collaborating effectively across different disciplines, including Product, Design, and Operations, to influence and shape the broader roadmap.
