  • • As an Engineering Manager at Wayflyer, you will be at the forefront of shaping and scaling our engineering capabilities, driving technical excellence, and fostering a high-performing team culture. You will play a pivotal role in translating ambitious business objectives into robust, scalable, and secure software solutions. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within a rapidly growing fintech company that is revolutionizing how businesses access capital.
  • • You will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers, guiding them through the entire software development lifecycle, from initial concept and design to deployment and ongoing maintenance. This involves not only technical leadership but also people management, ensuring your team members are motivated, engaged, and continuously developing their skills.
  • • A core aspect of your role will be to partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders. You will collaborate to deeply understand business requirements, identify opportunities for innovation, and translate these into actionable engineering plans. Your ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution will be crucial for success.
  • • You will champion and drive technical excellence across your team and the wider engineering organization. This includes promoting best practices in cloud infrastructure (specifically AWS), implementing robust DevOps principles, ensuring seamless deployment automation, and upholding the highest standards of security and compliance.
  • • Balancing the demands of delivering new features and strategic initiatives with the necessity of maintaining and improving existing systems will be a key challenge. You will develop and implement effective strategies for capacity planning, ensuring your team's efforts are aligned with company priorities and that technical debt is managed proactively.
  • • Fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and psychological safety within your team is paramount. You will act as a mentor and coach, empowering your engineers to grow professionally, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  • • You will be instrumental in creating and refining sustainable processes for cross-team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and effective communication. This includes establishing clear communication channels, facilitating effective meetings, and ensuring alignment across different engineering functions.
  • • Maintaining and regularly updating long-term capacity planning will be essential to anticipate future needs, identify potential bottlenecks, and ensure the engineering organization is well-positioned to support Wayflyer's aggressive growth trajectory.
  • • You will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of the engineering department, providing insights and recommendations based on your technical expertise and understanding of the team's capabilities and challenges.
  • • Your leadership will directly influence the quality, reliability, and scalability of the products and services Wayflyer offers to its global customer base.
  • • You will be a key advocate for Wayflyer's culture and values, embodying integrity, creativity, and bold optimism in your daily work and interactions.
  • • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • • You will be empowered to make decisions, take ownership, and drive initiatives that have a tangible impact on the company's success.
  • • You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to building a world-class engineering organization.
  • • Your success will be measured by the team's ability to deliver high-quality software, the growth and development of your team members, and your contribution to the overall strategic goals of Wayflyer.
  • • You will be a key player in ensuring Wayflyer continues to provide innovative and reliable financial solutions to businesses worldwide.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven track record of software engineering and engineering management experience at scale, demonstrating the ability to lead and grow high-performing teams.
  • • Strong technical background in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), DevOps practices, and distributed systems, with hands-on experience in building and operating complex systems.
  • • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • • Experience with capacity planning, resource allocation, and managing team workload across multiple projects and priorities.
  • • Deep understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements, and experience implementing them within an engineering context.
  • • Previous experience in fintech or financial services is a significant advantage.
