- • Lead a team of 5–10 engineers through a live monolith-to-microservices migration, frontend re-platform, and shift to AI-first engineering where 50–70% of code is AI-generated.
- • Run structured weekly 1:1s focused on growth and wellbeing, own the full performance cycle, build hiring pipelines from scratch, and create psychological safety for engineers to raise problems and challenge assumptions.
- • Own delivery through sprint planning, backlog refinement, roadmap trade-offs with Product Managers, and surface scope and timeline risks early as a co-owner of the roadmap.
- • Drive technical health by partnering with Tech Leads on architectural direction, championing observability, documentation, and quality standards while balancing feature delivery with technical investment.
- • Lead through transformation by supporting the team via monolith decomposition, BLAST frontend platform shift, and generate-and-review engineering model, coaching engineers to evolve their craft in an AI-augmented environment.
- • Build team culture by designing sustainable on-call rotations, managing capacity with care, developing engineers at all levels, and modeling work-life balance.
- • Contribute to the wider org by shaping hiring standards, participating in engineering guilds, partnering with Product, Design, QE, and DevOps, and representing your team in quarterly planning and cross-functional forums.

🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years managing engineering teams of 5 or more, with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers in a high-growth environment
- • Experience building hiring pipelines from scratch — role profiles, structured interviews, offer negotiation, and intentional onboarding
- • Demonstrated career development impact: ability to speak concretely about engineers grown from mid to senior, or senior to staff
- • Performance management experience including difficult feedback, written reviews, and PIPs
- • Strong software engineering background — written production code and able to hold genuine conversations about systems design, API design, and data modelling trade-offs
- • Working understanding of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven patterns, and CI/CD
- • Remote-first leadership experience: built real trust and cohesion across timezones without geographic proximity
- • Clear point of view on engineering management in an AI-first organisation — what changes about coaching, metrics, code review, and quality when 50–70% of code is AI-generated
- • Experience working with or alongside teams using AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent)
