Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As an Engineering Manager at Kernel Medical Devices, Inc., you will serve as a player-coach leader responsible for building and scaling a high-performing engineering team while contributing hands-on to technical delivery. This role is critical to Kernel’s mission of transforming enterprise RevOps through AI-powered company data, enabling rapid growth from $3M to $30M ARR by aligning engineering excellence with ambitious product vision.
- • You will spend approximately 30% of your time writing code and 70% leading the team, ensuring technical depth and strategic oversight. Your responsibilities include architecting scalable systems, driving hiring and development of engineers, owning end-to-end engineering delivery, collaborating with Product on roadmap prioritization, and maintaining velocity in a high-growth, startup environment where simplicity and scale coexist.
- • You will join a small but mighty engineering team of 7 engineers and 1 Product Manager, working closely with founders Anders and Marcus to shape the technical foundation of a platform processing ≈30B tokens daily and running 1.8M+ agents — all on a minimalist architecture of one database and one queue, comparable in volume to the entire Visa network’s daily transactions.
- • This role offers the opportunity to grow alongside a Series A-backed company with $14M in funding from top-tier investors including Plaid, OpenAI, and Slack. You will develop expertise in scaling AI-driven data systems, deepen your leadership in high-velocity environments, and directly influence the evolution of a product used by enterprises like Navan, Gong, Mistral, and AlphaSense to power their CRM and RevOps operations.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years leading engineering teams
- • Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering talent
- • Strong background in building and scaling production systems, including distributed systems experience
- • Comfort operating autonomously in small, high-velocity environments, ideally within a startup context
- • Technical proficiency in Kernel’s stack: AWS, NodeJS, TypeScript, Postgres, NextJS, and Tailwind, with willingness to dive into any layer
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary range of £140,000 – £200,000 per year plus equity participation
- • 24 days of annual holiday plus bank holidays, supporting work-life balance
- • 2 weeks of work-from-anywhere flexibility annually
- • Employer-sponsored pension plan and top-spec equipment provided
- • Free dinner at the central London office and regular team events and dinners
- • Visa sponsorship and relocation support for exceptional candidates moving to London
