Our mission is to make healthcare 1 in customer service, and we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of 4-6 engineers in our Chicago, Illinois office.
  • • As an Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in guiding a high-impact, flexible squad that plays a crucial role in Artera's success. This team operates at the intersection of multiple departments, focusing on critical areas such as integrations, authentication, and vital government contract work. Your leadership will directly influence our ability to deliver robust and scalable solutions that enhance patient access and streamline healthcare operations.
  • • You will be directly responsible for ensuring your agile team consistently delivers high-quality software with exceptional velocity. This is a 'player-coach' role, demanding a leader who is not only adept at managing and mentoring engineers but also willing to roll up their sleeves and contribute technically. This hands-on approach is essential for maintaining a high technical bar, fostering clear accountability, and ensuring the team's success.
  • • This is an exciting opportunity to drive both technical and operational excellence within a rapidly growing organization. You will be empowered to shape the team's processes, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and scale our engineering capacity to meet ever-increasing business demands. Your contributions will be vital in supporting Artera's mission to engage 100 million patients annually across 1,000 provider organizations, including specialty groups, FQHCs, large IDNs, and federal agencies.
  • • Your responsibilities will encompass the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. You will foster an environment where innovation thrives, encouraging your team to explore new technologies and approaches to solve complex challenges in the healthcare space.
  • • You will be a key player in defining and implementing best practices for agile development, code quality, testing strategies, and deployment pipelines. This includes ensuring the team adheres to security best practices, especially given the sensitive nature of healthcare data and government contracts.
  • • Mentoring and developing your team members will be a core aspect of your role. You will provide regular feedback, facilitate career growth opportunities, and build a cohesive and high-performing engineering unit. Your ability to inspire, motivate, and guide engineers will be critical to the team's overall effectiveness and individual development.
  • • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, QA, Operations, and other engineering teams, will be paramount. You will ensure seamless integration of your team's work with broader Artera initiatives and maintain clear communication channels across the organization.
  • • You will actively participate in architectural discussions, contribute to technical roadmaps, and make informed decisions that align with Artera's long-term technical strategy. This includes evaluating and recommending new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance team productivity and product quality.
  • • Driving operational excellence will involve monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency. You will also be responsible for managing the team's workload, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely delivery of commitments.
  • • Artera's commitment to innovation is reflected in its award-winning culture, consistently recognized for its technological advancements and business growth. Joining Artera means becoming part of a company that is a consistent honoree on the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies list, Deloitte Technology Fast 500, and Built In Best Companies to Work For. We are also recognized by Forbes, Newsweek, and Business Insider as a leader in digital health and a top startup to bet your career on.
  • • This role offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on the future of digital health, working with a passionate team dedicated to improving patient care and operational efficiency in healthcare. You will be at the helm of a team that directly contributes to Artera's mission of supporting billions of communications in 109 languages across voice, text, and web, powered by a decade of healthcare expertise and advanced AI.
