- • As an Engineering Manager at Moniepoint Inc., you will be at the forefront of driving the successful delivery and execution of critical projects within your designated product areas. This pivotal role demands a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end technical planning, ensuring that intricate business and product requirements are meticulously translated into actionable tasks and well-defined EPICs and technical stories. You will orchestrate seamless collaboration between diverse stakeholders, including talented engineers, insightful product managers, diligent QA professionals, and innovative UX designers, fostering an environment where innovation thrives and objectives are met with precision.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to evaluating the feasibility of business and product requirements, ensuring their robust alignment with the existing product architecture. You will be instrumental in refining and grooming tasks, working hand-in-hand with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers to ensure clarity and completeness. This collaborative approach is key to translating high-level objectives into granular, executable work items that pave the way for successful development cycles.
- • A core aspect of this role involves the strategic planning and organization of sprints. You will define clear sprint goals, leverage project planning tools to establish realistic timelines, set ambitious yet achievable delivery milestones, and proactively identify task dependencies to mitigate potential roadblocks. By fostering engineering processes that promote seamless collaboration and robust teamwork, you will empower your teams to operate at peak efficiency and effectiveness.
- • You will continuously track team velocity, ensuring that resources are optimally allocated and that team bandwidth is effectively balanced against task demands. This involves a keen understanding of team capacity and the ability to manage workload distribution to prevent burnout and maximize productivity. Furthermore, you will coordinate alignment and proactively manage dependencies across multiple stakeholders, preventing bottlenecks and ensuring the smooth, predictable execution of project plans.
- • While managing the team, you will also remain hands-on, contributing to critical projects by ensuring the application of appropriate design patterns and modern coding techniques. Your active participation in code reviews is essential for upholding the highest quality standards, ensuring that the codebase remains robust, maintainable, and scalable. This blend of leadership and technical engagement ensures that the team benefits from your expertise while maintaining a high bar for technical excellence.
- • Ensuring the robust health and performance of all owned services is paramount. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions, ensuring that defined Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are consistently met. In partnership with Product Managers, you will track and publish post-deployment product metrics, providing transparent and actionable insights to key stakeholders, thereby fostering data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
- • You will play a crucial role in debugging complex technical issues that arise during incidents. Your ability to quickly identify root causes, implement effective solutions, and lead blameless Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions will be vital in minimizing downtime and preventing recurrence. This proactive approach to issue resolution ensures the stability and reliability of Moniepoint's financial services platform.
- • Understanding and championing best practices in deployment pipelines, continuous integration (CI), and continuous deployment (CD) is also a key responsibility. You will ensure these processes are well-defined, efficient, and monitored, contributing to faster and more reliable software releases. Your leadership will guide teams in adopting and optimizing these practices to enhance overall development velocity and product quality.
- • Ultimately, as an Engineering Manager, you will be a catalyst for growth and excellence within Moniepoint. You will foster a culture of continuous learning, empower your teams to tackle challenging problems, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software that drives the success of our emerging markets platform. Your ability to translate vision into execution, manage complex interdependencies, and communicate effectively will be critical to your success and the success of the company.
