Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the technical roadmap and product evolution of Eliza, Lottie’s live AI agent that handles care home enquiries, transforming a proven prototype into a category-defining product.
- • Directly code alongside a small team of product engineers—this is a hands-on leadership role requiring active participation in development, not just oversight.
- • Build, manage, and mentor a team of product engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and high-impact delivery in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- • Collaborate with the General Manager for product direction and the Chief Product & Technology Officer, balancing engineering execution with product strategy.
- • Scale Eliza’s voice agent to handle real-time, high-stakes inquiries from families navigating critical care decisions, ensuring reliability, empathy, and emotional sensitivity in every interaction.
- • Deepen integrations with Found CRM, enabling real-time availability syncing, booking flow automation, and CRM data-driven responses to improve care provider workflows.
- • Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure and continuously improve response accuracy, tone, and emotional appropriateness at scale across thousands of interactions.
- • Manage LLM economics including token usage, latency trade-offs, prompt engineering decisions, and model selection to optimize cost, speed, and quality simultaneously.
- • Define and enforce scope discipline to avoid feature creep, prioritizing quality and trust over volume of interactions—Eliza must know when not to respond.
- • Expand Eliza’s capabilities beyond voice into live chat and email channels while maintaining consistent quality, tone, and ethical standards across all modalities.
- • Implement responsible automation practices: ensure Eliza always discloses it is AI, escalates confidently when uncertain, and prioritizes human intervention over automation completion rates.
- • Establish observability pipelines to monitor agent performance, detect failure modes, and track user sentiment in production without compromising privacy or user trust.
- • Ship MVPs rapidly, iterate based on real user feedback, and know when to use pragmatic solutions versus scalable architecture—balance speed with long-term maintainability.
- • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code as a natural part of your workflow to accelerate delivery without sacrificing code quality or security.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of Eliza’s product line from technical design through deployment and iteration, operating at the intersection of engineering, product, and ethics.
- • Drive a culture of learning and accountability by giving and receiving detailed, constructive feedback during all interview stages and engineering reviews.
- • Participate in quarterly in-person team gatherings in London Bridge, UK, with all travel and expenses covered by Lottie.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including leading technical decisions and mentoring engineers
- • Proven experience building production-grade AI agents with LLMs, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and observability
- • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and full-stack development
- • Demonstrated ability to ship products from 0 to 1 and operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
- • Product-minded mindset focused on impact, user trust, and reducing the cost of change over feature shipping
- • Comfort with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code) and pragmatic, scrappy engineering
🏖️ Benefits
- • £95,000 – £125,000 salary based on experience and seniority
- • Very generous EMI share option plan
- • 26 days holiday plus bank holidays
- • Quarterly in-person team gatherings in London with all travel and expenses covered
- • Remote work eligibility across UK and Europe
- • Opportunity to shape a live AI product with real-world impact on eldercare
- • Supportive, mission-driven team with 5/5 Glassdoor rating and award-winning startup culture
