📋 Description

• As an Engineering Manager for Applied (Gen) AI - Payments at Adyen, you will lead a pioneering team focused on leveraging generative AI to transform payment operations, solving real-world complexities at scale and driving measurable business outcomes by bridging cutting-edge AI capabilities with practical financial technology solutions.
• You will drive impact through autonomous leadership, strategic stakeholder management, and execution of the Adyen Formula—launching AI-powered products fast, iterating based on feedback, and ensuring constant value delivery while aligning initiatives with the company’s overarching vision.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring and growing engineering talent, providing technical guidance on AI and software architecture, leading product prioritization and roadmapping, fostering a culture of ownership and open communication, and actively hiring and planning headcount for team expansion.
• You will partner closely with product peers to balance innovation with technical debt, champion scalable and secure AI solutions, and cultivate an environment where constructive feedback and rapid iteration are the norm, enabling the team to operate with high autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit.
• Adyen is a global financial technology platform powering payments for industry leaders like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft, built on a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and ethical innovation, where teams are empowered to solve unique challenges at scale through collaboration and ambition-driven engineering.
• In this role, you will have the opportunity to help shape Adyen’s internal AI center of excellence, influence strategic AI initiatives across the organization, and grow both technically and as a leader by working on high-impact, production-grade generative AI applications in the payments domain.

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams and 5+ years of hands-on experience in Software Engineering and AI development.
• Strong foundation in core Software Engineering (e.g., Java or Python) with proven experience deploying (Gen)AI or Machine Learning models in production environments.
• Ability to clearly explain complex technical AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and align diverse business needs into a unified, actionable roadmap.
• Entrepreneurial self-starter mindset, thriving in fast-paced environments with minimal oversight, capable of driving initiatives from ideation to completion.
• Product mindset focused on user needs, scalability, and long-term vision for payment and billing solutions, combined with a quality- and growth-oriented approach to challenging the status quo.
