Engineering Manager - Batch Compute Infrastructure

• • As an Engineering Manager for Batch Compute Infrastructure at Stripe, you will lead a team responsible for the foundational infrastructure powering Stripe’s massive-scale batch processing environments, which include over 5,000 computational nodes running Hadoop, Spark, and Celeborn. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of systems that support core financial, analytical, and regulatory workflows at petabyte scale.
• • Day to day, you will define the multi-year roadmap for batch compute infrastructure, mentor and scale a high-performing engineering team, maintain operational rigor for Tier-0 systems processing tens of thousands of daily workloads, collaborate with finance and engineering teams on cost efficiency and compliance, and provide technical guidance in architecture reviews involving distributed systems and cloud primitives.
• • You will join Stripe’s Batch Compute Infrastructure team, which manages the tooling and distributed systems behind Stripe’s large-scale data processing platforms. The team operates at the intersection of infrastructure and product, enabling core asynchronous workflows across the company with a focus on reliability, performance, and cost optimization.
• • In this role, you will develop expertise in leading large-scale distributed systems teams, driving infrastructure modernization, optimizing cost-performance trade-offs at scale, and influencing cross-functional strategy across finance and engineering organizations at a global technology leader.
