📋 Description

• As the Engineering Manager for Panopto's Content Generation team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, leading a talented group of 5-6 developers dedicated to building and refining the core AI models and content pipelines that power our industry-leading visual and audio-based learning platform.
• This pivotal role demands a leader who thrives on solving complex technical challenges at scale, with a keen eye for enabling exceptional customer experiences through cutting-edge technology.
• You will be instrumental in ensuring our AI models and content processing infrastructure are not only robust and secure but also capable of scaling seamlessly to meet the demands of our rapidly expanding product and user base.
• A significant aspect of your role will involve close collaboration with your Product Management counterpart, fostering a synergistic relationship to translate product vision and user needs into tangible engineering realities.
• You will serve as a key liaison, managing critical communications and alignment between the engineering team, product management, and our research divisions.
• This ensures Panopto remains at the vanguard of advancements in Generative AI technology, integrating the latest breakthroughs into our product offerings.
• Your leadership will directly impact the quality, efficiency, and scalability of our content generation capabilities, which are central to our mission of empowering learners worldwide.
• You will guide your team through the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, ensuring best practices in software engineering are consistently applied.
• This includes fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation, and promoting knowledge sharing within the team and across engineering.
• You will be responsible for the technical direction and architectural decisions related to our AI models and content pipelines, ensuring they are maintainable, extensible, and performant.
• This involves staying abreast of emerging trends in machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and generative AI, and evaluating their potential application within Panopto's ecosystem.
• You will mentor and develop your team members, providing them with opportunities for growth, constructive feedback, and career advancement.
• This includes conducting performance reviews, identifying training needs, and fostering an environment where developers feel empowered and motivated.
• You will play a crucial role in the recruitment and onboarding of new engineering talent, helping to build and strengthen the Content Generation team.
• Your responsibilities will extend to managing project timelines, resources, and risks, ensuring that deliverables are met on time and within scope, while maintaining high standards of quality.
• You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, to understand their needs and ensure our technology effectively supports their objectives.
• This role requires a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by large-scale data processing and AI model deployment in a production environment.
• You will champion a data-driven approach to decision-making, utilizing metrics and analytics to monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous optimization of our content generation processes.
• Ultimately, you will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of initiatives that enhance Panopto's competitive advantage through superior AI-driven content creation capabilities.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience managing and leading software engineering teams, with a strong track record of delivering complex technical projects.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, particularly in areas relevant to content generation, such as generative AI, natural language processing, and computer vision.
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying and scaling AI models and data pipelines.
• Strong technical background in software development, with proficiency in relevant programming languages and development methodologies.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
