• • As the Engineering Manager for the Realtime Data Platform at Airwallex, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our data and AI strategy. This pivotal role sits within the broader Knowledge Platform team, which is the engine driving the company's ability to harness data, AI, and Machine Learning for tangible business impact. You will be responsible for architecting and delivering foundational infrastructure that supports the entire data and AI/ML lifecycle, ensuring a simplified user experience while upholding stringent safety and governance standards.
• • Your leadership will extend to managing our comprehensive data infrastructure, including technologies like Databricks, Spark, and Kafka. Furthermore, you will oversee the development of technologies that serve this data to our users, such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Model Centralized Platform (MCP) solutions. A significant part of your remit will involve building and governing the platform for hosting and managing AI/ML models, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• • The overarching mission for 2026 is to transform our entire data ecosystem, encompassing both the platform and its associated models, into a fully AI agent-ready infrastructure. This ambitious goal involves empowering customers to interact directly with the data platform, enabling them to extract actionable value through advanced capabilities like sophisticated analytics and natural language querying. Simultaneously, you will be tasked with upgrading the platform to deliver robust, real-time performance, facilitating instant, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• • In this role, you will spearhead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives that have a profound impact on Airwallex's entire data ecosystem. You will be the architect of the multi-year vision and technical roadmap for all real-time data analysis and serving needs, ensuring that these strategic directions are meticulously aligned with overarching business objectives and critical product goals.
• • A core component of your responsibility will be the strategic scaling of our engineering teams. This includes identifying and defining new roles, establishing best practices for communication and collaboration across multiple sub-teams, and fostering a high-performance culture. You will provide visionary technical leadership, defining a clear 1-3 year strategic roadmap for the Realtime Data Platform, guiding the team through complex technical challenges.
• • You will lead the multi-year effort to modernize our core data platform, a critical undertaking that will introduce real-time analytical processing capabilities at petabyte scale. This modernization is essential for maintaining our competitive edge and enabling advanced data-driven insights.
• • Collaboration is key. You will partner closely with product teams to enable the development and deployment of new data-driven features. This includes supporting the creation of AI-powered applications and real-time dashboards, ensuring that the underlying platform capabilities are robust, scalable, and readily available to meet these demands.
• • You will be responsible for successfully scaling and structuring the engineering teams dedicated to the Realtime Data Platform.
