📋 Description

• Join the innovative Exocompute team at Rubrik, a company at the forefront of Security and AI Operations, dedicated to securing the world's data and accelerating enterprise AI. You will play a pivotal role as an Engineering Manager, leading a team responsible for building the foundational platform that powers Rubrik's cutting-edge SaaS products. This platform is designed for extreme flexibility, supporting diverse deployment models including fully managed SaaS, Hybrid SaaS (data in customer clouds), and On-Premise solutions. The Exocompute platform is the critical data-plane, architecturally separated from the control plane, and tackles complex challenges in performance, security, high availability, and cost-efficiency.
• As an Engineering Manager, you will leverage your strong technical background and experience in platforms and infrastructure to guide and empower your team. Your primary responsibility will be to drive your team's success, collaborating closely with various product areas that rely on the Exocompute platform. You will actively support individual career objectives through coaching, mentoring, and establishing clear paths for progression. You will also ensure your team deeply understands the business objectives, translating them into a robust technical roadmap and prioritized backlog.
• You will be a crucial liaison, partnering with a wide array of stakeholders across Rubrik to ensure the Exocompute platform effectively meets their needs. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving obstacles that hinder your team's ability to deliver high-quality software. You will champion a culture of continuous improvement, maintain a customer-first focus, and drive a commitment to engineering excellence in all aspects of your team's work.
• As a first-principles thinker, you will guide your team in tackling complex technical challenges, distilling ambiguous situations into clear, actionable plans. You will consistently represent the customer's perspective, meticulously planning for the impact of the services your team builds and ensuring their ultimate success. Leading and growing a team of passionate engineers, who are part of a larger, geographically distributed organization spanning the US and India, will be central to your role. You will provide the support and guidance necessary for the team to self-organize, achieve sustained high velocity, and maintain predictability in their deliverables.
• This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Rubrik's core platform. You will be working closely with a Director of Engineering based in New York City and collaborating with engineers in Palo Alto, making experience with distributed teams and navigating multiple time zones highly advantageous. Your leadership will directly influence the performance, reliability, and scalability of Rubrik's offerings, impacting customers worldwide.

🎯 Requirements

• BS CS/EE or equivalent with 10+ years of industry experience, of which 2+ years is in Engineering Management; MS or PhD is a plus.
• Experience with SaaS enterprise software development built and delivered on any of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with distributed systems, availability, performance optimization, and cost management of a SaaS platform.
• Experience running engineering storage, compute, and infrastructure teams that work on SaaS and On-prem enterprise platforms.
• Experience hiring and developing teams within an existing organization to work side-by-side with other teams.
• Experience working directly with customers and vendors.
