- • As Engineering Manager, Growth at Airwallex, you will lead the engineering organization responsible for driving user acquisition and strategic market expansion, playing a pivotal role in scaling the company’s global payments and financial platform that serves over 200,000 businesses worldwide.
- • You will build and scale a high-performing engineering team focused on growth initiatives, ensuring technical excellence, inclusive culture, and alignment with business goals while fostering ownership and innovation across the team.
- • Day to day, you will lead talent strategy by recruiting, onboarding, and developing top-tier engineers and managers, establishing career paths, running performance and compensation processes, and creating succession plans to sustain team velocity and long-term growth.
- • You will manage, coach, and grow a team of engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and development plans, supporting their progression and ensuring they have the resources and guidance to succeed.
- • You will drive cross-functional execution with stakeholders in Compliance/Legal, Risk, Operations, Support, and other engineering teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment on mission-critical platforms.
- • You will communicate progress, insights, and business impact of growth initiatives to executive leadership and stakeholders, translating technical concepts into clear, actionable narratives for non-technical audiences.
- • You will assure effective collaboration between your team and local/global engineering, infrastructure, and product teams, breaking down silos and enabling integrated delivery of growth-focused features and systems.
- • You will provide strategic leadership for a mission-critical growth platform, aligning technical direction, capacity planning, and engineering efforts with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and success metrics.
- • You will identify and leverage opportunities to use AI for user acquisition, churn prediction, and personalized customer journeys, applying data-driven decision-making to optimize growth experiments and product adoption.
- • You will work closely with Growth/Marketing teams to solve end-to-end GTM operations, design scalable architectures for high-traffic user funnels, and build robust A/B testing frameworks that drive measurable business impact.
- • You will contribute to building new products or teams from scratch, scaling them as adoption grows, and applying knowledge of data warehousing, customer segmentation, and analytics tools to inform engineering decisions.

🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in a leadership role managing high-performing engineering teams (small to mid-sized)
- • Proven ability to recruit, onboard, and develop top-tier engineers, including building succession plans and career ladders
- • Experience running performance and compensation processes and fostering an inclusive, high-accountability engineering culture
- • Ability to navigate ambiguity, make technical tradeoffs, and align engineering efforts with business objectives and success metrics
- • Excellent skills in translating technical concepts for stakeholders across Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Executive leadership
- • Track record of building API- and integration-heavy systems in production environments
