- • As an Engineering Manager for HD Maps at Mapbox, you will lead a technical team responsible for developing high-definition map layers that power navigation and location-based experiences for millions of users worldwide.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include organizing team workflows, managing sprint planning, providing hands-on technical guidance, overseeing SRE on-call duties, and driving project delivery aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
- • You will be part of Mapbox’s Data Services department, a critical unit that acquires, processes, and delivers high-quality location data to support Mapbox’s maps, navigation, and search products used by over 4 million developers and 7 million monthly active users.
- • In this role, you will grow and mentor engineering talent, establish engineering best practices, define operational metrics, collaborate with product and engineering leaders on long-term strategy, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of people management experience leading remote engineering teams to deliver product outcomes and develop engineering talent
- • Deep technical expertise in building scalable web services on AWS
- • Proven ability to drive operational excellence through monitoring, metrics, incident response, and continuous improvement
- • Strong ownership mindset with experience leading strategy, vision, and execution for complex technical projects
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences
- • Experience hiring, developing, and retaining diverse engineering talent while fostering inclusive team cultures
