- • As the Engineering Manager for Infrastructure & Platform at CoinTracker, you will be at the forefront of shaping the technological backbone of a rapidly growing cryptocurrency financial services company. Your mission is to architect and execute a vision for modernizing our core foundations, encompassing infrastructure, developer experience, and the strategic integration of AI. - • In this pivotal role, you will lead and nurture a team of 5+ talented engineers specializing in Infrastructure, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). You will be responsible for setting clear strategic priorities, fostering individual growth through effective coaching, and scaling the team by attracting top-tier engineering talent. Your leadership will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our entire platform.
- • A key focus of your role will be owning the roadmap for infrastructure reliability, developer experience (DevX), and AI enablement. This involves making critical decisions about what technologies to build in-house, what to acquire through third-party solutions, and what to retire, all while positioning CoinTracker as a multi-product, AI-native company. You will drive the architectural evolution towards modular, service-oriented systems, establishing a robust shared platform that serves as the foundation for all our product development efforts.
- • You will champion a culture of platform thinking and technical excellence across the organization. This means proactively addressing cross-cutting concerns, embedding production readiness as a default requirement for all new initiatives, and advocating for the responsible adoption of AI technologies to safeguard the complex financial data of millions of users.
- • Your one-year outcomes are ambitious and impactful. You will architect and deliver the core infrastructure foundations necessary to support CoinTracker's expansion to multiple products and beyond our current 3 million users, ensuring our systems scale reliably without a proportional increase in operational costs. You will also drive measurable improvements in developer velocity by shipping platform capabilities such as ephemeral environments, streamlined CI/CD pipelines, and self-service tooling, thereby reducing friction and enhancing deployment confidence.
- • Furthermore, you will spearhead the evolution of our technology stack to natively leverage AI throughout the development lifecycle. This includes enabling significant productivity gains through AI coding agents, automated testing and review processes, intelligent debugging tools, and AI-powered operational monitoring and management.
- • You will launch and ensure the widespread adoption of critical shared platform services, including authentication, audit logging, and observability. These services will replace fragmented, one-off implementations with a unified, trusted, and standardized layer across all product teams.
- • Critically, you will define and articulate a compelling technical vision for the Infrastructure and Platform domain. This vision will align engineering teams around the future state of CoinTracker's architecture, looking 2-3 years ahead, ensuring we are building for sustained growth and innovation.
- • The scope of your responsibilities includes driving the evolution of CoinTracker's architecture towards modular, service-oriented systems, creating the essential shared platform layer upon which each product is built. You will foster a culture of platform thinking and technical rigor, taking ownership of cross-cutting concerns, ensuring production readiness by default, and promoting responsible AI adoption to serve millions of users handling sensitive financial data.
- • You will be instrumental in building secure, scalable shared platforms that empower every product team. Your investment in DevX improvements will materially increase engineering velocity and confidence, while your establishment of AI-native platform capabilities will unlock step-function productivity gains and accelerate the delivery of innovative AI-powered product experiences.
- • This role requires a leader who thrives in ambiguity, capable of transforming vague challenges into concrete, prioritized plans. You will possess strong architectural judgment, balancing the need to build for the long term with the imperative to ship pragmatic solutions today, all while effectively communicating your reasoning to both engineers and executives.
🎯 Requirements
- • 2+ years leading infrastructure or platform engineering teams, with a proven track record of growing both systems and people.
- • 6+ years of hands-on infrastructure and platform engineering experience, demonstrating the ability to build, debug, and maintain systems for real-world users handling significant financial data.
- • Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred, or AWS/Azure), observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Sentry), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
- • Experience building or scaling shared platform services (e.g., authentication, internal APIs, service frameworks), ideally within an organization transitioning from a monolithic to a service-oriented architecture.
- • Strong understanding of enterprise-grade security, governance, and compliance requirements, with bonus points for experience in regulated or financial contexts.
- • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, translating vague problems into actionable, prioritized plans.
- • Excellent architectural taste, with the ability to balance long-term vision with pragmatic, immediate solutions and articulate this rationale effectively.
