- • Lead the Cross Platform team that sits at the heart of Canva’s client-side future. You will steer a high-performing group of mobile and frontend engineers who are building the shared infrastructure that enables every Canva product team to ship once and delight users on iOS, Android, and web. Your leadership will directly influence how billions of designs are created, edited, and shared across the globe.
- • Own and evolve our cross-platform architecture end-to-end. From navigation patterns that feel native on every device, to rendering pipelines that stay buttery-smooth under heavy load, to offline support that keeps creativity flowing without connectivity, you will set the technical north star and ensure it scales to hundreds of engineers and hundreds of millions of users.
- • Champion developer experience as a first-class product. You will invest in tooling, testing pipelines, observability, and local development flows that cut iteration time and raise quality. Every improvement you ship is multiplied across every squad at Canva, turning your team into a force multiplier for the entire company.
- • Define technical strategy shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering, product, and design leaders. You will translate company-level goals into a clear technical roadmap, balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability, and make the hard trade-offs that keep Canva fast, reliable, and consistent across all surfaces.
- • Foster a culture of clarity, craft, and continuous improvement. You will run inclusive rituals—stand-ups, planning, retros, and 1:1s—that keep the team connected, motivated, and growing. You will mentor engineers at every level, turning complex technical challenges into opportunities for skill-building and career acceleration.
- • Scale through others by building the systems, processes, and documentation that let autonomous teams move fast without breaking things. You will create playbooks for onboarding, architectural decision records for alignment, and feedback loops that surface insights before they become incidents.
- • Partner with the broader Client Platform group to align on standards, share learnings, and co-own initiatives that span rendering engines, state management, performance budgets, and accessibility. Your influence will ripple across codebases written in Swift, Kotlin, TypeScript, and React Native.
- • Drive delivery excellence by balancing bold innovation with disciplined execution. You will set measurable goals around latency, crash-free sessions, and developer velocity, then celebrate wins and learn from misses in a blameless, data-driven culture.
- • Care deeply about wellbeing and inclusion. You will ensure every team member feels safe to bring their whole self to work, advocate for flexible arrangements, and use Canva’s internal coaching programs to support mental health and career growth.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading engineering teams in mobile or frontend domains, ideally with hybrid or native mobile stacks (Swift, Kotlin, React, React Native, TypeScript)
- • Track record of driving architectural decisions that impact hundreds of developers or millions of users
- • Demonstrated ability to create clarity in ambiguous environments and scale through others
