We are seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Engineering Manager to lead our talented iOS and Android development teams. - • As the Engineering Manager for Mobile, you will be instrumental in guiding the growth and development of our iOS and Android engineers. You will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring our teams are empowered to do their best work. Your role will involve conducting regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and dedicated career development conversations, creating an inclusive environment where every engineer feels valued and supported. You will be a key partner in defining, documenting, and evangelizing engineering standards and best practices across both mobile platforms, ensuring consistency and quality.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves providing architectural guidance and ensuring that technical decisions are strategically aligned with our long-term product and platform goals. You will collaborate closely with engineers to tackle complex technical challenges, offering mentorship and direction without necessarily being in the code yourself. Your leadership will drive tangible improvements in code quality, testing methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and our overall release processes, contributing to a more robust and efficient development lifecycle.
- • You will work hand-in-hand with product managers, UX designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to meticulously plan, prioritize, and deliver features according to our ambitious roadmap. Balancing multiple objectives across both iOS and Android teams will be crucial, ensuring seamless alignment and synergy between development efforts. You will lead agile ceremonies, ensuring our teams operate efficiently within a scrum framework, fostering agility and responsiveness.
- • Collaboration extends to our Quality Assurance and Customer Success teams, where you will help triage and resolve application issues, ensuring a high-quality user experience. A critical part of our product involves seamless integration between our mobile applications and ButterflyMX devices. You will partner closely with our hardware and embedded systems teams to ensure this integration is flawless, providing a unified and intuitive experience for our users.
- • In line with our commitment to innovation and efficiency, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and integrating AI coding assistants, such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor, into our team's workflows. The goal is to significantly improve developer velocity, reduce toil, and enhance the overall quality of our codebase. You will actively identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation across the entire development lifecycle, from code generation and review to testing, documentation, and debugging.
- • Staying at the forefront of technological advancements is key. You will continuously stay current on emerging AI tools and techniques, sharing your knowledge with the team and driving experimentation to uncover new possibilities. 🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of experience in mobile software development (iOS and/or Android)
- • 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams
- • Strong understanding of mobile development best practices, architectures (MVC, MVVM, Clean Architecture), and design patterns
- • Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and retain engineering talent
