- • This role is for an Engineering Manager within our dynamic Payments & Embedded Ramp team, a critical function responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure that facilitates all money movement across Kraken's ecosystem. You will lead a dedicated team focused on creating seamless fiat and crypto transactions, ensuring a robust and user-friendly experience for our diverse customer base.
- • As a hands-on Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in leading one of our Payments & Blockchain teams. Your primary responsibility will be to build and scale payment experiences and APIs that are fundamental to powering smooth fiat and crypto transactions. This involves overseeing the development of APIs, services, and integrations that form the backbone of our entire payments infrastructure.
- • You will lead a cross-functional team comprising talented backend and frontend engineers. Your leadership will drive the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable applications that meet the rigorous demands of the FinTech and crypto industries.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to partner closely with Product Managers and Designers. Together, you will define, plan, and deliver high-impact features that provide measurable business value and enhance the customer experience. This collaborative approach ensures that our technical solutions are aligned with strategic goals and user needs.
- • You will also collaborate extensively with other Engineering Managers and Tech Leads across the organization. This partnership is crucial for maintaining consistency in engineering standards, architectural patterns, and best practices across all our platforms, ensuring a cohesive and efficient development environment.
- • Championing engineering excellence is paramount. You will be responsible for upholding high standards of code quality, promoting maintainable systems, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team and beyond.
- • Mentoring and developing engineers is a core part of this role. You will nurture technical growth, cultivate a strong sense of ownership, and encourage a collaborative spirit among team members, helping them reach their full potential.
- • Strengthening team organization and delivery processes will be a key focus. You will leverage agile methodologies, implement effective project tracking, and utilize key metrics (such as DORA metrics and cycle time) to optimize team performance and predictability.
- • The team owns critical APIs, services, and integrations that are essential for our payments ecosystem. You will ensure these components are not only functional but also secure, compliant with relevant regulations, and performant under high load.
- • You will work with external partners to integrate their services, ensuring seamless and secure transaction flows. This requires strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as a deep understanding of technical integration requirements.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks within the payments infrastructure, ensuring the stability and security of all financial operations on Kraken.
