📋 Description

• Lead the Product Experience (PX) engineering team at Istari Digital, Inc., driving the development of modern web applications, developer tools, and AI-powered capabilities for aerospace and defense customers, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with mission-critical user needs in secure, regulated environments.
• Partner closely with customers to deeply understand their workflows, pain points, and operational contexts, translating those insights into impactful product features that enhance usability, performance, and adoption of Istari’s digital engineering platform.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous learning while making key architectural and implementation decisions for JavaScript-based applications and AI-integrated tools.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to define roadmap priorities, balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability, and ensure seamless integration of PX capabilities into the broader Istari ecosystem.
• Champion engineering best practices including code quality, testing, performance optimization, and security compliance, particularly in high-assurance domains where reliability and data integrity are paramount.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment that reflects Istari’s core values: focus is rewarded, finish is remembered, facts are friendly, and fellowship is fundamental — promoting psychological safety and mutual success.
• Represent Istari’s engineering culture at off-sites and customer engagements, helping to build trust through in-person interaction while advocating for the team’s needs and celebrating collective achievements.
• Drive innovation in user experience by exploring emerging technologies in AI, visualization, and interoperability to push the boundaries of what’s possible in digital engineering for complex systems.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead leading teams that build complex web applications, preferably with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Svelte) and state management.
• Strong technical background in full-stack development with deep understanding of browser performance, security considerations, and scalable frontend architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with customers or end-users in regulated, mission-critical, or enterprise environments to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Experience working with or integrating AI/ML capabilities into user-facing products, particularly in contexts involving data visualization, automation, or decision support.
• Track record of fostering high-performing, inclusive engineering teams through mentorship, clear communication, and a focus on outcomes and psychological safety.
• Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or industrial engineering domains is a strong plus, or a demonstrable ability to quickly learn and empathize with technical users in complex workflows.
