📋 Description

• Lead a senior-leaning, autonomous engineering squad focused on Virta’s Product Platform, accelerating delivery of personalized, scalable care through core services like communications, workflow engine, and AI platform.
• Champion cross-team platform adoption by partnering with engineering managers across Virta to identify and resolve delivery friction, establish structured feedback loops, and align on adoption strategies that enhance capability utilization without delaying product timelines.
• Drive innovation in the software development life cycle with a focus on AI-native development, including safe experimentation with agentic coding tools to reduce toil, improve cycle times, and preserve team expertise and technical judgment.
• Own the technical vision and strategic roadmap for Virta’s core platform capabilities, balancing immediate high-leverage optimizations with long-term architectural investments to ensure scalability aligned with business goals.
• Facilitate complex technical decisions within the team as a decisive tie-breaker, fostering a high-ownership culture built on trust, autonomy, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Design and implement career development paths for senior engineers, coaching them to evolve from individual problem solvers to system thinkers capable of influencing organizational outcomes and progressing toward Staff/Principal levels.
• Interpret team delivery and health metrics to distinguish between areas requiring active intervention and those needing only monitoring, using data to guide strategic improvements.
• Translate company-wide OKRs and KPIs into actionable team strategies, ensuring the Product Platform team clearly understands how their work directly drives business growth and patient impact.
• Build and sustain a high-performing, fully remote team through intentional culture-building, asynchronous collaboration, and transparent communication practices.
• Conduct a 90-day onboarding plan that includes: a Team Operating Assessment (by Day 45), a Platform Friction Inventory (by Day 60), and a formalized Team Strategy Document (by Day 90) outlining quick wins, long-term architectural targets, and adoption metrics with risk-mitigation frameworks.
• Ensure all platform initiatives comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements for handling sensitive patient data, adhering to Virta’s security and privacy procedures with mandatory training provided.
• Maintain alignment with Virta’s values: prioritizing people, ownership, impact over busy work, humility, transparency, evidence-based decision-making, and rapid iteration.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years leading senior, autonomous engineering teams with a proven track record of building frameworks, shared platforms, or cross-team services.
• Strong influencing skills to drive adoption of centralized frameworks or shared services across disparate teams without direct authority.
• Experience aligning platform timelines with product roadmaps to maximize engineering leverage and minimize cross-team friction.
• Technical fluency in platform, product infrastructure, or distributed systems contexts.
• Ability to interpret team delivery and health metrics to determine when to intervene versus monitor.
• Proven ability to translate high-level company OKRs/KPIs into team-level strategy that drives business growth.
