📋 Description

• Lead, grow, and support inclusive engineering teams with a focus on psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Hire, onboard, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, coaching, and clear development plans, including conducting performance conversations with empathy and clarity.
• Maintain a deep understanding of team strengths, skill gaps, and future talent needs to align team composition with strategic goals.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Architecture teams to shape technical strategy, delivery plans, and long-term platform evolution.
• Guide teams building and modernizing AWS-native, cloud-based platforms while managing integration with legacy systems.
• Set and enforce high engineering standards across code quality, testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and documentation.
• Stay actively involved in technical decisions through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on coaching to ensure technical excellence.
• Balance new feature delivery with technical debt reduction, system reliability, security, and long-term platform health.
• Remove blockers and mitigate risks to enable predictable, sustainable team delivery.
• Lead the practical adoption of AI tools to enhance developer productivity and software quality, encouraging thoughtful experimentation with LLMs and emerging AI technologies.
• Identify opportunities to embed AI capabilities into internal platforms and customer-facing products, and share learnings to drive team-wide understanding.
• Own delivery commitments and help teams plan work realistically using Agile and Lean practices.
• Use a small, meaningful set of metrics to improve transparency, decision-making, and team performance.
• Continuously improve developer experience through tooling, process refinement, and workflow optimization.
• Support healthy on-call practices, retrospectives, and post-incident reviews to foster resilience and learning.
• Promote cost awareness and efficiency across AWS environments, ensuring responsible cloud resource usage.
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers through Communities of Practice to share best practices and align cross-team initiatives.
• Maintain a strong grasp of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and modern software engineering fundamentals.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across departments.
• Stay current with industry trends in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and AI-driven development to inform team strategy and innovation.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong background in software engineering with several years in technical leadership and people management
• Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
• Hands-on experience using or introducing AI or ML tools within engineering teams
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture, AWS, and distributed systems
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language
• Experience leading change across technology, process, or ways of working
