- • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of backend engineers, providing technical guidance, career coaching, and fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
- • Own the architecture and scalability of data pipelines, ETLs, and data layers that handle massive volumes of blockchain-derived data with precision and reliability.
- • Drive technical excellence by setting and enforcing code quality standards, performance-critical flow optimizations, and architectural best practices across the team.
- • Partner with Product Managers to translate complex fraud prevention and risk management requirements into robust, production-grade technical solutions.
- • Optimize system performance across the entire stack, including PostgreSQL query tuning, Redis caching strategies, and Kubernetes-based deployments on GKE.
- • Build and scale APIs and data infrastructure that global institutions rely on to detect criminal activity, manage financial risk, and prevent fraud.
- • Leverage AI-first engineering practices by integrating LLMs, AI agents, and automated tooling into the development lifecycle to accelerate feature delivery and system efficiency.
- • Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of core features within the Alterya innovation hub, ensuring timely, high-quality releases aligned with business objectives.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering leads and product stakeholders across global teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, and the USA to align on technical priorities and resolve complex system challenges.
- • Maintain a strong focus on scalability, testability, and maintainability of code, ensuring systems remain performant under increasing data loads and user demands.
- • Operate in a high-growth, fast-paced environment where initiative, ownership, and impact are valued over rigid processes.
- • Contribute to the evolution of the tech stack, which includes Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, BigQuery, GCP, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD.
- • Act as a technical anchor for the team, reviewing code, leading architecture discussions, and mentoring senior engineers to elevate overall team capability.
- • Stay current with advancements in AI, data engineering, and fraud detection to continuously improve the team’s technical approach and product outcomes.
- • Embody a startup mindset: prioritize results, embrace ambiguity, and drive solutions with urgency and ownership.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of backend engineering experience with deep expertise in Python, including FastAPI and high-scale request serving
- • Proven track record of building, optimizing, and scaling data pipelines, ETL systems, and big data architectures
- • Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL (including performance tuning), Redis, and BigQuery
- • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams and transitioning into an official Team Lead role within 3–6 months
- • AI-first engineering mindset with practical experience using LLMs, AI agents, or AI-powered tooling in development workflows
- • Excellent communication skills for coordinating across global teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions
