- • Fundraise Up is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Team Leader to spearhead the Donor Experience Platform team. This pivotal role involves leading the development of a critical technical platform, specifically an internal API, that underpins the company’s core products. These products are the various forms and interfaces responsible for processing online donations, making this role central to our mission of facilitating seamless and accessible charitable giving.
- • As a hands-on leader, you will be instrumental in guiding a talented team of 5-8 Fullstack developers. Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of technical leadership and people management, with an estimated 70/30 split favoring management duties. This means you'll be actively involved in shaping the team's technical direction while also nurturing individual growth and ensuring collective success.
- • You will be responsible for ensuring the team adheres to established company processes and best-in-class engineering guidelines, fostering a culture of quality and efficiency. A key aspect of your role will be owning the end-to-end delivery of features, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the highest standards. This includes meticulous planning, proactive risk management, and effective communication with stakeholders.
- • Technical decision-making will be a core part of your day-to-day. You will be expected to make sound technical choices, architect robust and scalable solutions, and prepare detailed technical designs for new features. Crucially, you will need to align these technical strategies with neighboring teams and your direct manager, promoting a cohesive and integrated engineering effort across the organization.
- • Managing technical debt and maintaining a well-organized technical backlog for your team will be essential for long-term project health and maintainability. This involves identifying areas for improvement, prioritizing refactoring efforts, and ensuring that the team consistently works towards a cleaner, more efficient codebase.
- • Mentoring and developing the engineers on your team is a top priority. You will conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide guidance, support career progression, and foster a positive and productive team environment. Onboarding new team members effectively will also fall under your purview, ensuring they are quickly integrated and set up for success.
- • Performance reviews will be a key component of your management responsibilities, providing constructive feedback and recognizing achievements. You will play a direct role in shaping the careers of our engineers and contributing to a high-performing team culture.
- • Fundraise Up is a global fundraising platform dedicated to making donating fast, seamless, and accessible. Our technology powers tens of millions of dollars in donations monthly, supporting leading nonprofits like UNICEF and the Alzheimer’s Association. We are recognized for our innovation, focusing on elements that directly impact results such as conversion rates, load times, global payment support, and accessibility.
- • Our platform is a complex, large-scale ecosystem serving nonprofits, donors, and partners worldwide. It includes a modern checkout experience, customizable SPAs (Single Page Applications) for widgets, dedicated portals for donors, organizations, and partners, robust admin tools, and various internal applications. This complexity offers exciting challenges and opportunities for innovation.
- • The backend is built with Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB, while the frontend utilizes Webpack, Vue.js, and React, predominantly in TypeScript. For high-throughput messaging and background processing, we leverage Kafka and Bull (Redis), and our analytics data resides in ClickHouse, with Elasticsearch powering our search capabilities. This modern and diverse tech stack provides a rich environment for experienced engineers.
- • You will join a distributed team of over 160 product professionals, including more than 80 engineers, primarily located across Spain, Poland, Portugal, Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Cyprus. Many of our developers possess 5-10+ years of experience, contributing to a culture of deep technical curiosity and knowledge sharing. Despite our scale, we operate with the focus and agility of a small team, valuing every task and every voice.
- • Our engineering culture emphasizes thoughtful collaboration, strong engineering practices, and a product-first mindset. Biweekly engineering forums provide a platform for sharing learnings and celebrating technical achievements. Quality, mentorship, and mutual respect are the cornerstones of our team, making it an ideal environment for leaders who value these principles.
- • This role is remote, with a preference for candidates operating within CET hours, ensuring effective collaboration with our distributed European teams. Fluency in Russian is a requirement for team communication, alongside a B2+ level of English for broader company interactions.
