đź“‹ Description

  • • Fundraise Up is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Team Leader to spearhead the Donor Experience Platform team. This is a pivotal role where you will guide a talented group of 3-5 Fullstack developers in building and enhancing the core technical platform that underpins our company’s most critical products. Your leadership will directly influence the seamless and efficient processing of online donations, impacting millions of dollars in contributions to nonprofits worldwide.
  • • As a hands-on leader, you will strike a balance between technical contribution and team management, dedicating approximately 70% of your time to leadership responsibilities and 30% to hands-on coding and technical decision-making. This ensures you remain deeply connected to the codebase while effectively guiding your team.
  • • You will be instrumental in ensuring the team adheres to established company processes and rigorous engineering guidelines, maintaining the high quality and reliability that Fundraise Up is known for. This includes championing best practices in code reviews, testing, and deployment.
  • • A key aspect of your role will be owning the end-to-end delivery of features, from conception to deployment, and ensuring strict adherence to project deadlines. This requires proactive planning, effective task delegation, and continuous monitoring of progress.
  • • You will be empowered to make critical technical decisions, architecting robust and scalable solutions for new features. This involves preparing detailed technical designs, collaborating closely with product managers, and ensuring alignment with the broader engineering roadmap and with neighboring teams.
  • • Proactively managing technical debt will be a significant responsibility. You will identify, prioritize, and address technical debt, ensuring the long-term health and maintainability of the platform. This includes maintaining a well-defined technical backlog for your team.
  • • You will play a crucial role in the professional development of your team members. This involves mentoring and coaching engineers, conducting regular one-on-one meetings to discuss performance, career growth, and provide constructive feedback.
  • • You will be responsible for onboarding new team members, ensuring they are integrated smoothly into the team and company culture, and are equipped with the knowledge and resources to succeed.
  • • Conducting performance reviews will be an integral part of your role, providing structured feedback and supporting the growth and development of each individual engineer.
  • • The Donor Experience Platform is central to Fundraise Up’s mission, powering the customizable forms and interfaces that enable donors to contribute to vital causes. You will be leading the evolution of this platform, ensuring it remains at the forefront of fundraising technology.
  • • Our technology stack is modern and robust, featuring TypeScript, Node.js (Koa, NestJS) on the backend, and Vue.js/React with Webpack on the frontend. We leverage Kafka for high-throughput event processing, Bull (Redis) for background jobs, MongoDB for our primary data store, ClickHouse for analytics, and Elasticsearch for search capabilities.
  • • You will be joining a distributed, international team of over 160 product professionals, including more than 80 engineers. Our team members are primarily located across Europe, fostering a collaborative and diverse work environment. Many of our developers possess 5-10+ years of experience, contributing to a culture rich in technical expertise and knowledge sharing.
  • • Fundraise Up is a fast-growing company recognized for its innovative fundraising solutions. Our platform is trusted by leading nonprofits like UNICEF and the Alzheimer’s Association, and we pride ourselves on a 4.9/5 rating on software review platforms, a testament to our product quality and impact.
  • • We operate with a product-centric mindset, where every task contributes to our overarching mission of making donations seamless and accessible. You will be part of a culture that values thoughtful collaboration, strong engineering practices, and a shared commitment to our users.
  • • Bi-weekly engineering forums provide a platform for engineers to share learnings, discuss challenges, and celebrate technical achievements, fostering a continuous learning environment.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on a product used by millions, driving innovation in the nonprofit sector and contributing to a company with a clear vision and a strong ethical foundation.
  • • You will be a key player in shaping the future of online fundraising technology, working with a passionate team dedicated to making a difference.
  • • The position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates operating within CET hours to facilitate collaboration within the existing team structure.
  • • We offer a competitive compensation package including a salary range of €6,600 - €7,100 per month, plus valuable stock options, reflecting the importance of this role and the impact you will have.
  • • As part of a Russian-speaking team, fluency in Russian is beneficial, but a strong command of English (B2+ level) is a mandatory requirement for effective communication within the broader international team and for technical discussions.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 10+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in a Team Lead or Engineering Manager role overseeing a team of 5-10 developers.
  • • Proven experience as a hands-on leader capable of writing code, making sound technical decisions, and designing complex systems.
  • • Strong people management skills, encompassing hiring, coaching, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and team development.
  • • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Fullstack Developer.
  • • At least 5 years of experience in product companies working with TypeScript, Node.js, MongoDB, Kafka, and Redis.
  • • English proficiency at a B2+ level, enabling confident technical discussions and communication.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • 31 days of paid time off annually.
  • • 100% paid telemedicine plan for comprehensive health support.
  • • Home Office Setup Assistance to create a comfortable and productive remote workspace.
  • • English learning courses to enhance language proficiency.
  • • Support for relevant professional education and development.
  • • Access to a gym or swimming pool membership.
