📋 Description
- • Senior engineering leader for a high-volume, multi-product payments division within a SaaS company. Reports to the CTO; sits on or adjacent to the executive leadership team.
- • Own and scale the payment gateway or payment processing platform handling $5B+ in annual transaction volume, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance across ACH, credit card networks, and settlement systems.
- • Lead a cross-functional engineering organization of 25–50+ people, including software engineers, QA, DevOps/cloud, and security, with experience managing distributed or nearshore teams in Colombia, LATAM, or Eastern Europe.
- • Drive technical strategy that translates into business outcomes, own budget ($3–5M+ opex), and contribute to executive-level strategic decisions while ensuring engineering excellence in code quality, CI/CD, observability, and incident response.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10–15 years in software engineering, with at least 4–6 years in engineering leadership at the director level or above
- • Direct experience owning a payment gateway or payment processing platform at scale — ideally $5B+ in annual transaction volume
- • Hands-on background in payments infrastructure: gateway architecture, ACH processing, credit card networks, settlement, reconciliation
- • Deep integration experience with major payment processors (Stripe, Worldpay, Braintree, Adyen, or equivalents)
- • Must have personally led or co-led PCI DSS certification (Level 1 preferred) and recurring audits; SOC 2 Type II ownership strongly preferred
- • Has managed cross-functional engineering orgs of 25–50+ people including software engineers, QA, DevOps/cloud, and possibly security
