📋 Description

  • The Executive Director, Strategic Innovation, Greenhouse at College Board leads the development of innovative solutions to improve community college transfer success and student outcomes, driving meaningful impact in education equity and access.
  • Day to day, the role involves developing strategic plans and vision (40%), leading product development from concept to launch (40%), and managing and mentoring a cross-functional product, design, and engineering team (20%), including setting goals, tracking progress, and fostering a high-performing, inclusive culture.
  • The Greenhouse team is a mission-driven innovation unit within College Board, focused on building scalable, human-centered solutions to persistent education challenges, operating with startup-like agility and a commitment to user-centered design and rapid learning.
  • In this role, the individual will learn to navigate complex educational ecosystems, scale zero-to-one initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and grow as a strategic leader while advancing College Board’s mission to clear a path for all students to own their future.

🎯 Requirements

  • 12–15+ years of experience in product management, engineering, design, or a related field, with a strong track record of leading teams in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments
  • 5+ years of experience leading high-performing, cross-functional teams, with demonstrated ability to advise and empower senior-level talent and foster ownership without heavy-handed direction
  • Experience in education, higher education, or the community college ecosystem, particularly related to transfer, enrollment, or student success, is a strong plus
  • A visionary, strategic mindset with the ability to connect complex challenges and translate ideas into action
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a proven ability to build from zero to one in ambiguous spaces
  • Strong operational leadership, including prioritization, team alignment, and driving accountability in fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to influence across diverse stakeholders
  • A strategic and inclusive leadership style that fosters belonging, clear priorities, and effective team structures
  • A proven ability to drive performance through evidence-based feedback, coaching, and supporting smart risk-taking
  • Deep commitment to mission-driven work and advancing educational equity and access
  • Ability to travel approximately 2 weeks per quarter to engage with users, partners, and internal teams
