📋 Description
- • Investigate and adjust workers' compensation claims with the highest potential exposure in Minnesota, applying deep knowledge of state-specific comp laws and regulations.
- • Conduct face-to-face meetings with claimants, insureds, defense attorneys, and vendors including medical case management and surveillance providers.
- • Analyze coverage details to determine compensability and calculate appropriate benefits under Minnesota workers' compensation statutes.
- • Establish and regularly update claim reserves based on medical prognosis, legal exposure, and settlement strategy.
- • Negotiate settlements to achieve optimal outcomes while ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
- • Prepare comprehensive large loss reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and legal counsel.
- • Attend settlement conferences, pre-trials, and trials as assigned to represent the company’s interests and provide expert claim insights.
- • Work approximately 60% of the time in the field conducting investigations, site visits, and in-person meetings, and approximately 40% of the time remotely from a home office.
- • Travel extensively within Minnesota and occasionally outside the state as caseload demands, including overnight stays and occasional air travel.
- • Operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods to reach claim locations, medical facilities, and legal proceedings.
- • Maintain consistent and effective written and verbal communication with a wide range of internal and external contacts, including claims teams, legal teams, and medical providers.
- • Utilize computer systems daily for claim documentation, reporting, and communication across multiple platforms.
- • Demonstrate resilience, assertiveness, and strategic thinking to resolve complex claims efficiently and proactively.
- • Maintain active Minnesota adjuster license and pursue industry designations such as Associate in Claims (AIC) to enhance professional expertise.
- • Collaborate with vendors and legal counsel to coordinate surveillance, medical evaluations, and other claim resolution tools.
- • Contribute to a 90%+ customer renewal retention rate by delivering exceptional claims service and building trusted relationships with insureds.
- • Adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
- • Support Strategic Comp’s mission as part of Great American Insurance Group by combining proactive claims handling with a results-driven approach.
🎯 Requirements
- • Active Minnesota adjuster license required
- • 7+ years of proven experience in Minnesota workers’ compensation claims adjusting, with focus on high-exposure claims
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with claimants, attorneys, and internal teams
- • Ability to travel frequently within Minnesota, including overnight stays and occasional air travel
- • Proficiency in using computer systems for claims documentation and reporting
- • Willingness to work 60% in the field and 40% remotely from a home office in Minnesota
