- • As a Field Service Engineer at Ciena Corporation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment, integration, and optimization of high-speed optical network solutions for global telecommunications customers. Your expertise will directly contribute to the reliability and performance of mission-critical infrastructure that powers modern connectivity, from submarine cables to data center interconnects, enabling exponential growth in bandwidth demand across industries.
- • You will be responsible for translating complex high-level network designs into detailed engineering documentation, leading field deployment activities, and serving as the primary technical liaison between customers, field technicians, and internal engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution from planning through acceptance testing.
- • Monitor and manage the coordination, planning, and execution of projects, focusing on engineering documentation such as LLD, NDD, DCN designs, Link Diagrams, and ATP documents.
- • Translate high-level designs into detailed engineering designs in collaboration with systems engineers, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with customer requirements and industry standards.
- • Lead communication and acceptance testing with end users, validating that deployed solutions meet functional, performance, and reliability criteria before handover.
- • Lead complex network deployment or reconfiguration projects, overseeing installation, commissioning, and integration activities across submarine, long haul, metro, and DCI environments.
- • Support field service technicians and site leads in achieving engineering objectives by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout all project phases.
- • Interface directly with customers to deliver engineering designs, explain technical solutions, and provide expert advice on synchronization, network topology, and performance optimization.
- • Make informed decisions impacting project scheduling, resource allocation, and deliverables to ensure timely completion while managing risks and escalating issues when necessary.
- • Resolve technical challenges in real-time, acting as the first point of escalation for field service technicians, and drive root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and technical documentation in all phases of project lifecycle, from design to final acceptance.

🎯 Requirements
- • Foundational knowledge in optical transmission systems (submarine, long haul, metro, DCI), control plane networks (L-0 and L-1), OTN, SDH, Ethernet technology, and network management systems.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong analytical and teamwork capabilities.
- • At least 5 years experience in field service engineering, particularly with telecommunications and networking equipment.
- • Proficiency in hardware installations and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- • Familiarity with network management systems and related tools.
- • Hands-on experience with submarine, DWDM/OTN links integration, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
